You can include picks, cash, or rights to unsigned players. Just not players under contract.

Olshey now seems to be saying he will need to be sending players from the roster along with the TPE to get an "impact player". The only ones that would have value would be Aminu and Harkless, right? We're not trading Collins are we?

No because we will only trade trash and want gold back in return.

I’m still missing why Oubre would be available for only the TPE. Or is the thought to add a protected first.

Wizards fans/bloggers think Oubre will be packaged with Gortat.

How about our TPEs for both? I’d do it.

For just salary dump? Nothing going back?

    Hell ya I'd do that.

    YES! THIS!

That would make re-signing Davis almost impossible but Gortat can have that role and also be used as an expiring trade contract at the deadline. It's basically a way to extend the TPE to February, plus we could package him with other players in two months unlike the TPE. I would feel pretty comfortable with Oubre and Harkless as our SF rotation.

I’d rather re-sign ed and bury Gortat on the bench or just buy him out.

I just don't think that is feasible given the tax implications. Basically it would come down to if you want Oubre enough to warrant letting Davis go for Gortat.

Unfortunately, I just don't see any scenario where we improve the team while signing Ed.

Silly question--with everyone talking about Oubre, why not Tomas Satoransky? He's listed as a SG, but at 6'7" 210, he's plenty big enough to play 3. Seems like his shooting and efficiency numbers are far better than Oubre's. If Oubre's highly desirable because of his upside, shouldn't Satoransky be similarly so because of his actual production?

For me at least, I feel like Oubre has flashes where he has decent starter ability and is more competent defensively. Getting him would be hoping he pops and realizes his talent. I wouldn't mind Satoransky but he seems like more of a role player on a good team with not a huge ceiling in terms of getting better than he already is. His better shooting numbers are on a lot less attempts per game too.

This is the cost of the route the team has seemingly chosen to go down. And if they’re not ok being heavily in the tax for a season or two, and they don’t want to give up CJ or Zach, then what are they doing?

Surprised at how bad Oubre's shooting stats are. I just remember his game this year against us......6-9 (2-3) and 5 steals. He looked real good.

I am not saying they won't pay the tax, they will and it will be significant. What I am saying is that if they use the TPE on a big man like Faried or Gortat (because it came with something else good too) then having their contract on the books and also re-signing Davis seems unlikely. Especially if the guy they bring in is a somewhat capable big. If they brought in Courtney Lee with the TPE then yeah I could see Davis being signed to a 1 or 2 year deal.

Yeah, I don't watch enough Wizards games to know what is going on for sure. He seems to have a lot of the tools necessary to be a good player but hasn't put it all together yet.

But those two guys would only be on the books for one season. What happens after that? It’d make more sense to bite the bullet.

Satoransky is an ET who can shoot. Would be a solid pickup for the Vonleh TPE.
