You seem to be emotional about this story. What is wrong? The minimum wage of the day was 3.10/ hour, they were paid 4.00 via the contractor. They took the Job! Yes, I suspect the contract was below what a contractor paying Union scale wage would have agreed. So what is your bitch? I would observe this is an example of immigrants putting a downward pressure on wages for American workers, but it is normal for a business man to seek the lowest contract price. I do. I have.
Ive got a 11' Newport Vessel with the Holy Grail of 2 cycle outboards, 15hp Yamaha. The thing goes about 35 miles per hour which is very therapeutic for me. Haul ass full tilt bogie. I put in at Milwaukie and will head up towards Oregon City and back. Appreciate all you do here in keeping these extremist in check! lol
Well, a local where I am going! I plan to go up to West Linn, anchor behind Goat Island a few days. Perhaps you could escort me up there?
Let me know what day of week & time and Ill see if it works for me. What kind of boat should I be looking for? Nice place to anchor!
So it's ok with you if a business breaks the law if it reduces their cost. Interesting... would slave labor be ok with you also? That would really save money! barfo
When you get settled, please PM me if you’d like to hook up for a libation or need a ride to pick up supplies or whatever. We can talk Blazers and leave our particular brands of political “extremism” on the beach for an hour or two.....
There's a big difference between your case and Trump's. You employed the contractor, not the workers. Trump ended up paying the illegal Polish workers directly - and threatened to have them deported. And paid $1.4M to settle the case. barfo
Yes. It also mentions that the contractor bailed out, and then Trump started paying the workers directly. barfo
Yes, I have had that happen too. One I remember was shutdown by the IRS for whatever, I do not know. But you have to pick up the pieces and continue. If the contractor does not pay his workers, you have to do it. They can legally lean your property for wages for work on your property. It is the law in most states.
Sure, you may be on the hook for the wages already earned, but you aren't obligated in that circumstance to continue to employ illegal workers for the remainder of the project, or to threaten them with deportation if they complain. barfo
Here's some whataboutism for ya. How many people were deported and left behind kids that were born here while Obama was President? Since I don't accept your wording of separating the children as inhuman I have a hard time even discussing this. It isn't what I want to see happen but it is what it is.
