Ok, so i'll take that bit of hope you're offering.

If he was such a gem outta HS, why didn't he go to college? I watched "He Got Game", did he not get offered the threesome with two pornstars?

He was set to play for Louisville under Pitino. He smartly backed out after the NCAA investigations started. No need to get caught up in all of that bullshit.

IOW, he probably was offered the threesome, but it was with two strippers. From Kentucky. He passed.

See... As crazy as this might sound...

I don't think they want LeBron.

    I think they want Kawhi.

The fact that @jlprk liked this post says he didn't do any research on Simons before hating on the pick and the pick-ER.

Everyone who did their research on our newest Blazer knows exactly why he didn't attend college. His story has been well told.

Did you know why he didn't go to college or not @jlprk?

If so, why like this post?

    Investigations around Louisville?
If that didn't work out why not go to a different college? If he was a top guy out of HS then he should get multiple offers right?

Sorry about my lack of knowledge on the situation, but college ball isn't my thing.

he would've had to sit out a year. So his options (in his mind) was to either sit out a year and go into the NBA (I'm assuming he would've been a one and done), or sit out a year, go to college for a year and then go to the NBA. He chose the former, not the latter.

However, if he was offered a threesome like Mr Shuttlesworth was, he might have changed his mind.

Why not go to the draft where he can be a first round pick, get paid, and develop under an NBA staff?

    I'm confused.
As i understand it, instead of going to college he went to an institution called "IMG Academy" where he played with the "post grad" team for a year.

You are talking as if he went from HS straight to the NBA which is not allowed

Because he had to sit out a year due to the NCAAs transfer rules.

When Pitino was in effect fired, Simons backed him up by pulling out of Louisville. It was Pitino's only revenge. It's no surprise that Pitino now repays Simons with an undeserved compliment.

I do like that we are swinging for the fence with selecting the youngster. Why not?

dude...….are you saying you don't like Simons or do you also just want an Olshey pick to fail? Or do you just think Pitino is no judge of basketball talent which would make Olshey equally foolish? Simons is change....unproven...19....nobody knows what his ceiling will be..I thought you liked change...roster changes especially

Now we even get attacked for "liking" posts? And why can't people just let jlprk have his fun. I want him to keep posting and I know some have stopped posting because there seems to be so much backlash around here.

I wish my memory was better, because I'd probably remember who I was mad at or feuding with. Since it's not, I forget who it is Im talking to halfway through a thread.

Pitino was just repaying Simons by helping his draft position. He has no special knowledge.

    How could he?

He only saw him (if he did at all--he might have just sent an assistant coach) in high school, the same as all other scouts. Actually, other scouts additionally attended Simons' IMG games, so Pitino actually has worse, not better and updated, knowledge.

You act as if Pitino has a coach's special knowledge of his own player--that he saw Simons daily at Louisville practices, how Simons responded to Pitino's instructions in games, etc. But there were no such practices or games. Pitino doesn't know anymore about Simons than anyone else.

BS. Pitino recruited the kid for his blue chip college program. Yeah, I'm sure he knew nothing about the kid. Just stop.

not at all...but he recruited the kid and knew more about him than most people....if a coach is paid big bucks to find talent...they usually learn how to do that...not sure it would be "special" knowledge but they don't recruit in a vacuum.
