Blatant Stupidity Turns Me Off. Mets bought a Pig in a Poke and grossly overpaid for it.

...I remember when both Bonds and Bonilla were youngsters with the Pirates...and at the time I thought Bonilla was the better player back then and was hoping the Yanx were gonna sign him to a contract...glad they didn't.

...besides Bonilla never really living up to the hype, he ultimately became almost as much of a dickhead as Bonds.

I had totally forgot about Bonilla's absurd contract. His years with the Mets never amounted to anything like his years with the Bucs, even then he was grossly over rated imo...

back in time I recall going to Chavez to see (Mets) Saberhagen vs Hershiser. Saberhagen was throwing darts, still had a lively fastball, while Orel was struggling to overcome burning his arm out.

Bonilla as I look at the old scorecard 0-4, what a fkdup overhyped player if there ever was one.
What's ironic is the Bums 2nd baseman (UT) was Jeff Treadway. The 1 - 1/2 yrs I worked in Perry Ga, one of my work peers was Treadway's brother.
Once worked with Joe Peter's cousin-
Once worked with Jim Slaton's wife-
Once worked with Dwayne Murphy's father-
and the list goes on and on...

Out of Bonds, Bonilla outfield Van Slyke was my choice. Never forgot Bonds failure to throw out Sid Bream in that Championship game. Prior to that Play Van Slyke tried to get Bonds to re-position and Bonds flipped him off. Always though Bonilla was a cocky, smart ass. During the '99 NLCS, Bonilla & Henderson were playing cards in the Club house while the Braves were out there kicking Kenny Rogers and the Mets butts. Bonilla was a sorry fuck who got over like a big dog.
