Monta Ellis isn't a bad choice, but Kevin Martin was robbed. Monta Ellis is a sophomore player, he's EXPECTED to improve. I like Ellis, I'm happy he's getting recognition. With that being said, I still feel that Martin deserved the award more.
I think the Warriors making the playoffs had alot to do with Ellis winning the award. Is that right? Maybe not, but I think Monta Ellis deserved it as much as anyone. I think Kevin Martin deserved it more as he had a tremendous turnaround and was the biggest reason the Kings won any games at all, even with Artest. But I don't have a problem with Ellis getting it.
Ellis helped his team reach the playoffs, and played a big role when Jrich was out. Martin on the other hand was not able to help improve the Kings record at all this season.
That is bullsh**. Tell me which is harder...going from 6 to 16 points or 10 to 20? Especially when Monta is only in his 2nd season....Of course he's going to improve...He was a 20 yr old rookie last season....

That's the only conclusion I can come up with. Otherwise Martin should have had this locked up.

That's why he was averaging eighteen prior to the trade and 15 after the trade.

And btw, for what it's worth, 6 points to 16 points is a lot more impressive and unexpected increase than 10 to 20 points. I don't see what everybody's problem is with monta winning it; he improved statistically as much as Martin, and also learned a new position, cut down his turnovers, started not choking in the clutch, etc.

btw, here's another aspect of the conversation is that Monta has improved defensively too, leading the league in steals+charges taken per game with 2.57.

The Warriors' sole defensive strategy is double teaming and steals. Of course stealing is not all defense is, but it definitely helped. Overall, Monta improved more at every facet of the game. I don't see why this is causing such outrage.

Where else has either improved substantially that would tip the scales?
