...^^^That is a fucked up voting system.

Indeed it is. IF a person has multiple email accounts, i.e. One person can have 4 gmail, 4 Yahoo & any other email accounts, allowing One person to Vote 140 times using each account. Between Gmail & Yahoo thats 280 ballots.
A fkd up system 2 say t/least...

...no, just the inane voting system.

Personally, I think they should let the players makes the AS selections.

^^^^ I agree....

Been going through the All-Star ballot, and what an eye opener. Usually selected all-stars have combined
very good to excellent numbers. Hard to find this year. Averages are way down. Many players will be selected
on the basis of past reputation and on media hype. For example, Gary Sanchez has 12 HRs, 35 RBIs with a
paltry .201 BA. So, the question is, ‘ Are stats the only measure to pick an All-Star’? Not this year. In fact, as in
past years many fans will just stuff the ballot box with their favorite ball players regardless how they perform.

^^^^
exactly and Hometown fans across the nation will vote for their favorite players regardless of poor or good performance. The AS game has become more of a fans beauty dream contest, than one based upon actual performances, Sad enough....Imo, Fans should get ONE vote, and only One.
Players and Coaches should get a vote, in a equation that makes each Player/Coaches Vote count more than Fans. Thus the Fans still get to vote, but the real vote would be something like-
If 10 Million fans vote, then each Players vote counts for 10, 000,001, thus trumping Fans votes by a small margin, yet enought to turn blind homer fans votes. I think something like that....:nerd:

Lion: I'm adding this thread to the AS Post....

During the '56 Season Cincinati Fans stuffed Ballot Boxes to get their players on to the AS Squad. I haven't t paid that much attention to that game in recent years for several reasons. To me it has lost its character as an EXIBITION Game played by the alleged best. Fans should be able to vote but in controlled numbers and in cases where one is elected on past numbers instead of current merit the Managers or coaching staff should be the final say. The World Series should start in the Park of the LCS Team having best record at series entry. Note to Yankee Players stay away from the Home Run Derby leave that to the "individual Stat" people. Your team needs you for a championship.

...Otahni to the DL with a Grade 2 sprain of his UCL...not a good sign...don't pencil him him for the ROY just yet.

hate to laugh at anothers pain, BUT- :biglaugh:

Ohtani, I hope they rush him back, so he can tear the UCL in half; making way for Torres ROY campaign. Tho' imo, GT has to overcome his errors on defense to be a legit ROY....

I've missed a few AS Games for the same reasons.

I'd rather watch and look more forward to seeing t/ "Futures Game".

Teams should treat the HR Derby like it's the WBC. Just say no- when a Team has the capability/probability of playing in Post Season...
Tho' I watched last years HR Derby only to see Judge, imo he should of opted out; (tho' fans were elated and it gave him more exposure to non-Yankee Fans, as a MLB Idol/Stud).

Like Bobby Abreu's HR Derby screwing his hitting up, Judge truly suffered from that exposure. Not even sure who's in this years HR Derby... will keep an eye on this....

I'm glad You brought that up. Here's some history on ballot stuffing...

In 1957, fans of the Cincinnati Reds stuffed the ballot box and elected 7 Reds players to start in the All-Star Game: An investigation ordered by Commissioner Ford Frick showed that over half of the ballots cast came from Cincinnati, as the Cincinnati Enquirer had printed up pre-marked ballots and distributed them with the Sunday newspaper to make it easy for Reds fans to vote often for their favorite stars.

Managers, players, and coaches picked the entire team until 1969, when the vote for starters again returned to the fans; to prevent a repeat of this incident, since 1970 until the start of internet voting, each team has been given the same number of ballots to hand out. In 1998, that number was roughly 400,000 ballots.

The 1988 Game was surrounded by tacit accusations against Oakland A's fans of stuffing the ballot box in favor of catcher Terry Steinbach, whose qualifications as a starter were questioned by some sportswriters. Steinbach wound up being named the game's Most Valuable Player, hitting a home run and a sacrifice fly to get both RBIs in a 2–1 win.

Since the dawn of the internet age, online voting has again led to ballot stuffing. In 1999, Chris Nandor, a Red Sox fan, utilized a simple computer program to vote for Nomar Garciaparra over 39,000 times. Upon discovery, MLB disallowed the votes.

In 1999, Major League Baseball assures that they have taken precautions to guard against this.
Yeah Right-

In 2015, Kansas City Royals fans were accused of stuffing the ballot box when eight of their players

This also would have been a record for the most players from one team starting in the All-Star game.
However, after MLB cancelled 65 million votes citing voting fraud...

From what I heard none of The Yankees will be participating this Year.

...^^^ even more impressive when you consider that because of all the rainouts the Yanx have played the fewest games of any team in Baseball.

Gary Sanchez is the leading vote getter among AL Catchers...that should tell you how screwed the voting system is and why fans should not be the ones voting.

Sanchez isn't even the best catcher on his team. Yep, you've got "fans: voting out there who "don't get into it" until play off time. And then most of them are fucking bandwagon jumpers. Yeah man, Sanchez, ain't he that Kracken Guy yeah I'm gonna vote for him.

^^^^^
I really expected Romine 2b a legit 'write in', guess not... :smiley-hmm:

Fan Votes are 90% illegitimate. A.S. game's obviouly a popularity contest, not based on performance. Surprised theres not a swimsuit contest....

Womder IF GT will even play. I'd rather see him enjoy the festivities but not play until he's healthy to return to Yankees...

GT's among some Elite company.
