    as the missing piece?
I saw this on Blazersedge this am and it got me thinking.
I remember when we acquired buck and at that point he was one hell of a rebounded and even somewhat of a scorer.
Seems like KLove would be very similar, All Star, border, age wise etc.

I agree with their ideas of Love or Butler. Butler for CJ would be amazing and solve so many problems. Love would be interesting, but could also create new issues.

Butler would be good. Can you imagine if we did CJ for Butler and started Wade?

    Dame
    Baldwin
    Butler
    Collins
    Nurk

That's a damn good defensive team.

I'd likely still do it, but, seeing how the situation in Minny seems to be unfolding, I would almost think just asset wise, CJ would be an overpay compared to what else they might be offered. I could definitely be wrong.

I've always been a big fan of Butler's & would love to get him here (I've mentioned this quite a few times in the past); he's 1 of my favorite players but REALISTICALLY, what would it take to get him here? Why would Minny (a western conference rival) want to make us much better & handicap themselves (even a disgruntled/bad chemistry Minny's better vs. a Minny w/ Cj)? Hey, I'm a :hcp: too but we've got to take off the :hcp: glasses; a trade for Butler would begin w/ Cj...

I'm still holding out hope that we could get Kawhi with CJ. It feels like this summer's Paul George.

I'm not sure what Minny wants, but if we could get Butler/Kawhi to go with Dame/Nurk.... that team would be insane.

Yeah, and maybe my initial reluctance of including CJ for Butler is the thought we'd somehow be able to pull off both of those. God, I wish.

It's really just a question of what the market is for Butler or someone like Kevin Love. Are they expecting picks? Expiring contracts? Young players? I think Love would be more likely to re-sign here than Butler honestly. And we have guys that could play the two if we got Kawhi.

If we could get San Antonio to agree to CJ/Turner/Aminu/Pick for Kawhi/Gasol/Green and then turn around and offer up Harkless/Leonard/future pick for Love, I honestly think that's fair value for those two players.

    Dame/Baldwin
    Green/Curry/Simons
    Kawhi/Layman/Trent
    Love/Collins/Biggie
    Nurk/Gasol

That's a team that could compete in the west.

A small forward who is basically a tall shooting guard. He will be good at dribbling, shooting, passing, and defense. He need not be 6-8 or 6-9 as all SFs seem to be nowadays.

In other words, roster balance in our offense.

Kawhi Leonard would be that guy. It looks like he needs a new beginning. it's got ugly there. But i will say this. SA fans are like Blazers fans. They LOVE their team. Always had great crowds, and i'm sure many of them want to keep Leonard. The Tony Parker thing is weird. Was there friction between him and Kawhi? Kawhi is the guy to me. But I also like the Blake Griffin idea from Fez as well. Olshey has a relationship with him, and Blake would love to join Dame.

The answer largely depends on who would be willing to stay here. Case in point, why would we give up value for Leonard?

    Butler would be my choice.

Actually, acquiring Robin Lopez was very Buck-like. We improved by 21 wins and Aldridge played better. That team was very good but the Spurs were playing at an insanely high level.

My question about Kawhi though is health. Do we even know when he's gonna play again and at one level. A whole missed season with a quad injury? That is strange. And that is why I'd rather have Love first and Griffin second. Obviously, if Kawhi is 2016-17 Kawhi, everyone wants him but are we sure he'll get back to that.? After Roy and Oden, I just don't like having injured players. I would've passed on Cousins for this reason.

Derozan. He'd give us another guy that can get free throws and improve our transition game immeasurably, plus he and Dame are super tight. The main issue is that he would cost CJ and is virtually unplayable with Turner, so I think we'd need to find a way to dump Turner afterwards.

I'd love to facilitate Kawhi to Toronto and end up with Derozan.

    Derozan/Pau to Portland
    Kawhi/Danny Green to Toronto
    McCollum/ET to San Antonio

I think we'd want a sweetener here, and I'm not sure who would owe it to us more.
