Nope. Google it. Weird story and rather fucked up. Imagine getting sentenced in court to a year for something and then later they change the sentence to 5. I don't care who it is, that's fucked up.
Oh right Bundy and co got off after using an armed private militia to have a standoff with police. They were found not gulity in a court of law. Ok. The Hammonds were found guilty of Arson on federal land carrying the minimum sentence of 5 years. The Judge tried to supercede the law with his ruling and was called out on it. If the law says 5 years and they are found guilty, they must serve 5 years.
The FBI has yet to shoot any football players for kneeling. And the same shit could be said about the Bundys or Hammonds as the fucking dipshits running around Portland burning things and breaking shit.
The Ranchers should have just went to the closest city center and started setting other people's businesses ablaze. That's the ethical way to make a stand apparently.
I am a liberal. I don't agree with dumbshits in masks torching newspaper bins, breaking windows, etc in the name of protest. I don't defend such people. Neither should you defend arsonists and terrorists.
Well to be fair there are liberals who are totally ok with that behavior just like there are conservatives totally ok with the ranchers behavior. That behavior shouldn’t be condoned though.
The meme implied Americans defend "domestic terrorism" while simultaneously being appalled at football player for kneeling. It was an over-generalization and just overall race baiting bullshit. I was comparing two different methods of protest, not condoning them.
How about don’t commit acts of terrorism get into a standoff with law enforcement in the 1st place. Then you don’t need to worry about your time in prison.
This is a perfect example of how the government and media keep the public at odds with eachother. The left sees white people in cowboy hats and assumes inherent racism, based purely on stereotypes, and would rather side with a land grabbing government that is infinitely whiter and more racist.
Terrorism? Let's not be sensational. Just because you can loosely define something based on technicalities doesn't mean it's accurate. Al Qaeda are terrorists. Pissed off ranchers and inner city protesters are not.
Excuses. The ethics of it bother me no matter the crime. If these guys were behind 9/11 and the judge gave them 10 years instead of death I'd want them to serve the 10 unless you could prove a conspiracy including the judge. If I were able to grant pardons and someone told me the sentence discrepancies and not the crimes I'd pardon them all. To me it is like double jeopardy. People walk for things like murder all the time. Them's the rules we all live by.
There have been 154+ mass shootings this year, none of which have been done by a brown person. You hold up with guns and take over federal buildings you're a terrorist. Maybe terrorist means brown to some...
So you're okay with the judge in California that gave the student athlete from Stanford a 6 month sentence for sexually assaulting a females student who was passed out?
Only white people use that term. It's used because they're afraid to realize or even care about the truth. You can bring a bullet, bring a sword Bring a morgue, but thou can't bring the truth to me. - Kendrick Lamar
I kind of disagree with this, but I'm having a really hard time explaining it. I definitely see the point your making, but I think there is more to it in my mind then just white people don't want the truth. I don't want to speak for "whites" or whatever so I'll just speak for myself. I get frustrated with the "victim" thing at times, when people immediately jump to this only happened to me because I'm insert race, gender, religion / world view, etc. Sometimes things definitely are driven by racism and I believe we should always try to snuff that stuff out. I also get frustrated at how both sides play this game with us (the people), where they are actively profiting off of keeping groups at each other. I have a friend who has been through (not exaggerating) 20+ jobs in the last 3 years, nice guy but super lazy and with a straight face he will tell you it's all because he's a white male and if he was something else he wouldn't get fired. That's just freaking nonsense right? I don't believe it for a second, but he believes it, he is convinced he's just a victim of his skin color and gender. Now I can't speak for other people, be it black or white but I hear people say this stuff all the time where this only happened because I'm "something", and I KNOW for a fact that things happen to people of color because of their skin, but it's also really hard at least for me to tell when something happened to them because they are brown, or when something happened to them because of their actions, or just being in the wrong place at the wrong time. I know I'm not saying this well, and it's why I shouldn't be part of the off topic threads like this. Anyways I do respect your opinions a lot, like I have said in other threads, so none of this is meant for you to take personally. The whole "race" issue is hard for me to talk about not because I don't want the truth, but because the truth in this is buried inside of people's heads or hearts or whatever you want to call it, and a lot of the time what truly motivates treating people wrong is hard to extract.
