Neil bashing....take 4 new roster members and sleep it off....we upgraded two positions and really have one to fill.....people act like Mo and Chief aren't on the team....Layman is ready for minutes...we'll be better this season in my view, not worse...so in a nutshell...Olshey has done what he could here. We loaded up on 3pt shooters...a glaring problem last season.

I don’t think the team will degenerate, but they probably won’t get much better and last regular season was kind of a mirage... other West teams probably won’t deal with the same major injuries they dealt with last season... plus most teams improved roster while Blazers lost Ed Davis and added 2 minimum salary guys... so the reality is, this team is not good enough as constructed... and Neil has done a good job in draft finding talent for future... but this team needs a major trade or it’s going nowhere in Dames window

Pops said he wouldn't trade Kawhi to the Blazers because we'd be too good with him....it's not because of Olshey...teams have wanted our best players and Olshey won't trade them. Front office suits are what they are......I for one am glad we didn't trade Nurk for Dwight Howard

Blah blah blah, motivated to start a thread with a poll so that everyone can put on paper now their definition of Dame's "window."

It's what he said.....no green font needed..Pops actually didn't want Kawhi in the west period...Olshey approached him, didn't work out...Olshey also had a deal on the table for Cousins...agent conflict of interest didn't pan out either...is what it is...you go fishin and you might get bites but not hook a big one

First of all, you have no clue what's going to happen with Dame and CJ. They could get hurt, they could decide they don't want to play here anymore, they could have a falling out. Any number of things can change the trajectory of a player's career. Brandon Roy is a perfect example of this. They're in their late 20s, they're playing at the top of their game, and we need to take advantage of that, because things can change in the blink of an eye in pro sports. You can't just assume that they're going to age like a fine wine for the next ten years and we can slowly put pieces around them. Dame is already showing signs of impatience with what the team is doing with his prime years.

Secondly, the Spurs had a winning organization for 20 years, and that started as soon as they drafted a generational talent in Tim Duncan. They hadn't won shit before Duncan got there, and they haven't won shit since he retired. Tim Duncan is arguably the best power forward of all time. It's kind of like MJ coming out of retirement at 40 and still being one of the best in the league. I love Dame, but he's not a Tim Duncan or a Michael Jordan. He's a damn good player, but he's not a generational talent. You could put LeBron on any team in the league that team will make the playoffs. We're about to see it with the Lakers. I fully believe that Dame will be a HOFer, and he could be the best player on a championship team, but I'm not convinced that he's on the same level as a LeBron, or a Jordan, or a Duncan. And Duncan had the advantage of winning most of his titles before the super teams. It's a very different NBA now.

I guess don't understand what you guys are advocating though. Hold onto Dame and CJ and just hope that our draft picks develop into stars? How long can we play that game? Teams make moves. Even the Warriors make moves constantly. But the last significant risk we took was trading Batum. Making a trade of Plumlee for Nurk and a #1 was a no brainer. The team was playing like shit, Plumlee was due for a big payday, and Nurk was the better player anyway. This team hasn't been making any drastic moves since the summer Aldridge left. We have been swapping out role players and drafting 19 year old rookies. There have been rumors of trying to pursue guys like Paul George and Carmelo, but nothing that materialized.

well...that's a safe zone for you...as if you do have a clue? again...what about this topic isn't pure speculation anyway....I'm not a believer we're in basketball hell either...looking forward to an entertaining season.

I don't. That's why I want to live in the now and take advantage of Dame while he's here and in his prime and healthy.

I have no reason to believe we won't win with Dame now....championship? not this season...I think we're building a good team...Layman alone is a promising rotation big now

Maybe he is cagey and defensive because some fans call him names, etc? Not saying its right, but hey, I've seen enough to know that If I were NO, I would have a rough relationship with the fans. Look at how some of you treat him, and then you expect smiles and flowers?

I'll reserve the "promising" until he does it against rotational players. Its nice what he's doing in SL, but it's SL. Guard league or not, he needs to prove it consistently.

Then again, I say that about everyone. lol.

I'd say the most promising thing about him is that he looks like a totally different guy out there. Very confident. Very smooth. Always attacking. That's what I want to see. Totally different from how he looked the past two summer leagues. We saw a similar change in mentality with Crabbe in his third summer league, and that did translate over to the regular season, so hopefully it will bode well for Mr Layman.

Haha. I am a Blazer fan. I want to like everything Blazers. Neil Olshey is the first GM I have actively disliked...

From day 1 he has been abrasive and overly confident. His dealings with the media and the players and other GM(s) (or at least one), while at first was super awesome and seemingly badass, quickly changed when it became apparent he was straight out of touch. And day by day as the target moves and he says less and less and with less and less meaning, it's become apparent that he is more of a conman whispering delusions into Paul Allen's ear than the GM we need...

My bet is we don't use the TPE unless it's in conjunction with a trade for a needle mover.

IOW: There is a very high probability we won't (but not for lack of trying).

Neil is a used car salesman... no way around that... he is condescending and angry towards fans for ever having any expectations... even tho he is the one setting up those expectations with all of his hype, and then constantly moving the goal post when he fails to produce
