OMG, that takes me back to the 50s. Edit: And there was moon shine, moon shine, quench the devil's thirst, The law, they swore they'd get him but the devil got him first. Robert Mitchum starred in that movie. He was so powerful in Hollywood that he even landed his son a spot in that movie. I've taken my grandfather and two uncles to moonshiners to buy a taste. One time was deep in the woods of Alabama. Another time was in a dry county in the city of Decatur near Huntsville where my grandfather got drunk alongside the mayor and chief of police. There was even a door with a sliding slot so he could utter the password to get in.
I am big into movies and the history behind them. I studied film as part of my minor in college. I'm a fan of Robert Mitchum. Most of what I have seen is his mid to later work. I need to watch some of his earlier stuff. He was of course Max Cadyin the original Cape Fear...if any of you haven't seen it you should. My favorite movie of his that I have seen is The Friends of Eddie Coyle. Mitchum was a harbinger for new age cinema with his breaching of the safe confines of the golden age with his foray into controversial subjects matters in his films.
Some more of my favorites are Rachel and the Stranger, River of No Return and best of all, Heaven Knows Mr. Allison.
Yes, it's the same in both movies. Normally, I don't like remakes but this remake with Robert DeNiro was also excellent.
