Of course it depends on the fried chicken.

My Korean born wife now makes fried chicken every bit as good as my Alabama grandmother, and her fried chicken was famous in the Eva, Alabama area. I've gotten my wife to make the same fried chicken dinners that my grandmother made with iced tea, turnip greens, string beans corn on the cob. Now, if I can just get my wife to bake a great apple pie like grandma, I'd be in heaven.

Subs are terrible compared with what we got in the early 70s. I remember a steak sub with sauteed onions and those dark green pepperonis you used to be able to get. OMG those were great.

Edit: Make that pepperoncinis. Green pepperonis? Shudder

There used to be a broasted chicken restaurant in my hometown, Oswego, Oregon (now Lake Oswego) that had chicken and fries both of which I still dream of having again some day. That must have been somewhere around 1956. It was right across the street from the Rexall Pharmacy where I used to get a sneak peak at the new Playboy magazine (quite a thrill for 10 year old boy). What the hell, it was quite a thrill for many decades or at least I have a vague recollection thereof. Now, I'm old and tired. Don't put me in the grave yet, I'm still younger than Marzy, dammit.

Good ingredients cost money. I can make better sandwiches at home for less money.

I’ve mentioned this before but........if you want an authentic “southern” apple pie, try Loretta Jean’s on SE Division. Every pie that lady makes is based on her Georgia grandmother’s recipes. I’ve never been a big pie fan but this place totally changed my mind. Nobody makes a better crust......and I’ve always hated pie crust. If you go and are disappointed, I promise to cover your (Lanny’s) tab.

Their owner is a big game hunter tool.... so I don't support them.

Hunting is fine.... but shooting elephants and lions and such is a no go for me.

This. I'm not a big protestor by any stretch but their sandwiches ain't good enough for me to help fund his hunting.

I was trying to remember the name of that place. Thank you for refreshing my increasingly failing memory. So, what were we talking about?

NO ONE should use the 'N' word. Not now, not ever. It's a term used to demean a whole category of our brothers and sisters.

If you want an accurate picture of how that term was used in the deep South, just watch the movie Django Unchained. This is one of the reasons I strongly object whenever I hear that term used in a disparaging way. I will not be silent on this subject. What if it were me? And in a way, it is.

I've watched that movie and the rampant use of the N word didn't bother me a bit.

Everyone got theirs in the end.

I haven't really been a fan of much rap this decade... but damn this song is powerful.

And the video itself..... I can't imagine the emotion that went into shooting that for the actors.

By the way, I've never been a big fan of Samuel L. Jackson, but I thought his depiction in the movie was brilliant.

Christopher Walz was also good. I notice he also depicted the evil Nazi SS Colonel in Inglourious Basterds.

    Leonardo DiCaprio was also excellent.

Don Johnson was hilarious especially when commenting on the difficulty in seeing while wearing the white hoods to match their white sheets.

Kerry Washington was the weak link when depicting Broomhilda "Hildi" von Schaft.

I remember when Quentin got a bunch of shit for how much he used the N word in Jackie Brown.

It depends on how it's used.

I haven't seen that movie in so long that I can't recall the use of that term.

I thought Pam Grier was especially good in that movie while Samuel Jackson wasn't bad at all. When I say Samuel Jackson wasn't bad I mean his acting not his character.
