He's a glorified role player. What franchise player can't create for himself, besides a few scores, can't handle the ball, can't really shoot well and is not really that smart. He has some great skills, but he's a role player, no better than a 3rd option.</div>I swear to god I've never known a fan put down his team so much.Marion could easily be a number 1 on most teams. He still gets the points he does in spite of the fact that plays are not usually made for him, he has to get his points the hard way. When he is used as the main guy he would be a 22/12 guy with the steals and blocks to boot.

I think it's crazy to say that Marion can be a #1 guy. I'm just being realistic. I laugh when he complains about not getting enough attention and then goes into the playoffs and his numbers go down. #1 guys do better in the playoffs and Marion just sometimes disappears even as a #3 guy. If he was the #1 and people actually game planned to stop him he wouldn't do a thing. He gets most points on lobs and passes near the basket and he sometimes misses those easy ones too. He only drives to the basket or creates space for his own shot for about 4 points a game. If Marion is the #1 guy, without a Jason Kidd, Steve Nash or Marbury(who had his best season with us) his FG% will be below 40 and his 3-point shooting below 30%. Marion's game is overrated by a lot of fans. He's important to this team and we need him to be close to as good as we are, but he is far from being a #1 option for a team. Like I said, name me one first option on a team that doesn't really create for himself, can't lead, is a terrible ball handler, can't shoot and disappears during half the playoffs? And he's not a leader. He seems to just care more about what people think about him than anything. He's Tayshaun Prince with better leaping ability, but worse at dribbling/passing. Is Prince a #1 guy?I don't feel that I put the team down at all. I say that they have a great chance at a championship, I haven't given up on Diaw, I stuck with Banks even with how bad he played until he was benched permanently, and I stuck with Jones and still believe he could be good for us...I just don't think Marion is as good as he thinks he is. He doesn't realize how good he has it here.

Rigth now he doesn't need to go looking for shots for himself, but when he is needed to be the top scorer he does it, when he is needed to be the top defender he does it. When used as the number 1 option (even when Phoenix has other scoring options as well) he is over 21ppg. If he was to be on a team when there were not many other options I could see him getting 23/24ppg if needed. You can't say he can't lead, the man leads by example every game. He has never really been given the oportunity to lead a team by himself.I have seen countless times that you put the Suns and their players down, or don't show faith. You can call it realistic, I'll call it being a weak fan. I don't care if a player is terrible if he plays for my team he is one the best in the NBA! Maybe its your age, maybe you need to go through a few more years supporting teams through the good and bad times.
Through good and bad times...I'm a friggin' Cardinals fan and I watch every game that's on TV, that's brutal and I've been a fan of there's for 8 years...I've watched over 115 D-Backs games a year during the bad times. I'm an ASU sports fan! You don't have to be a homer to be a strong fan. I have plenty of faith in the team. Last year I still believed we could beat the Lakers. It has nothing to do with age either. It's usually the younger fans that are the homers and the older fans who have experienced more that are the realists. I formed my opinion actually by talking to older and smarter fans than myself. I'm not a weak fan, I'm not a homer and I'm not delusional. I say it how it is. I don't like people who make homerish comments so I don't like to do it either. I know Marion is very important for the team, but isn't good enough to be a #1 guy. He has never shown he could create for himself even close to what other #1 guys do. Leading by what example? By complaining to the media every single year about his personal accomplishments? Yeah, that's a great example to set for younger guys.I love Marion. I love having him on this team and wouldn't trade him for anyone except for KG. He's a hard worker and extremely important to this teams success, but he is only a role player with freakish athletic ability. You still haven't named me one #1 option that lacks all the skills that Marion lacks. I have never seen a #1 guy fold in the playoffs like Marion has done against strong opponents. I would laugh if he leaves this team to try and do that. It would be worse than Joe Johnson doing it.Marion scores so much because he has had a great point guard every year in his career. Somebody put out a stat last year that showed that 70 something % of his points are assisted. He can play defense and get rebounds and that makes him very valuable for us but he would fail if he was the #1 when teams can already stop him as the #3. He is always shut down by the Spurs and in other playoff series he usually puts up less points than his average against most other good teams. His great defense was also abused by Odom and Josh Howard.
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/trad...~16~16~11~21~21I dunno, what do you guys think about this trade?
LOL, Pacers get a great deal in that, but there's no way in hell I'd get rid of Marion and James Jones for Odom and Vlad Rad. Marion is a perfect player for this team when he's not complaining. He does so much for us that, like I said, I wouldn't package him in a deal for any big that would be available besides KG. James Jones is much better on D than Vlad and just as good of a scorer. We couldn't afford a hit like that on our defense.

LA is giving up too much for Jermaine and the objective for Phoenix, if they were to trade Marion, would be to relieve salary... not take on two big deals. The Knicks and Pacers say "hell yeah" though.
