If the current weather projections hold, MarAzul will leave Bandon for Charleston on Sunday 7/22. Leave Charleston on the afternoon ebb tide Monday 7/23 for the Heceta bank off the central Oregon coast, then proceed to the Columbia River entrance, riding the flood tide in over the Columbia River Bar the evening of 7/24. Likely, she will dock for the evening in the Skipanon River before heading up stream for maintenance and business of the skipper.
Jack Stiles used to run the water taxis around the ports. A man that can get anything on or off a ship is a very interesting man. If you run into the right seadog here in Portland that name should at least get a you drink and a few great stories.
have you thought about doing like a blog on your trips? We may disagree politically, but I would really enjoy seeing a video log of some of the trip, etc.
You made me think of Jack Monetti. Run a number of business in San Pedro, including water taxi. The hub of which was his bar in town. I worked there Friday nights as a greeter while doing some stuff at Cal Tech, Years ago of course. I chatted with him every now and then for years. But damn, not this last time in port. He's dead too.
Jack had it about right. He had greeters welcome them as they came, then the Greeter that bid them farewell. After all, we wanted them to return.
Hard to dislike a guy who is living the life! Actually, it's hard to dislike you anyway, even if you are wrong on most things!
