The NBA definitely didn't want that group winning a title, tho they did turn Allen Iverson into a media darling that same year, so I'm not sure.

Wondering why this is a thread.

    I see no lie.

My dad went to his actual, literal grave convinced the 1999-2000 Blazers were told they had to throw Game 7 of the WCF. It happened, he said, during that weird timeout Mike Dunleavy called as they started a fast break when they were way up. After that, the Lakers went on their big run and won. My dad was swear-on-the-bible sure they were told then and there they had to throw the game.

If anyone will eventually corroborate the hypothesis, it'll be Sheed or Bonzi.

I just like that he said “I’m a career Laker hater”. Aren’t we all? Except HCP, of course.

In retrospect I really miss Sheed and even Bonzi sometimes (the spitting thing bugs me still)... they got a raw deal from the wonder bread fans.

And with that, he should now be back in the good graces of all Blazer fans. :)

Wasn't Rasheed supposed to write a book about this? What happened to that documentary by Rasheed, Bonzi and Stoudamire?

I never disliked shred, I just thought he could’ve been better than he was (and he was really good anyways).

Man, let's not pick at more old wounds. I did enjoy the "career Laker hater" comment.

While there may have been a conspiracy, in this particular case, I think it had more to do with market size and the NBA promoting superstars (Shaq and Kobe) than with race.

I mean look at the rosters of the two teams involved:

    upload_2018-7-19_10-7-6.png

    upload_2018-7-19_10-7-44.png

The Blazers had two white players who were both part of the rotation and played a combined 321 minutes. The Lakers had one white end of bench scrub who played a total of 8 minutes.

There is way too much racial injustice in this country, but I'm not seeing it here.

Yeah. That was more about economic injustice.

I don’t think he’s saying black vs white. He’s saying the blazers were too street and the Lakers were polished superstars like Shaq and Kobe.
