Where did you get this version of the story?

The story that I read was that the wannabe cop was following Martin because he thought he was suspicious and then Martin jumped him when he went back to his car. He had him on the ground bashing his head against the sidewalk when the dude shot him.

I haven't seen any version of the story where the guy was physically attacking him first.

Whether or not the fucker should have been out trying to be a cop, or not following the directions of the 911 operator and staying in his car, I haven't seen anything that says that Martin was attacked first.

 

He didn't follow him... He chased him. That's well documented.

You're on some bullshit if you believe Zimmerman's account. I don't believe the bullshit police report either. I followed this story INTENSELY did you?? If you did you'd remember they didn't come out with photos of Zimmerman for WEEKS.

Zimmerman showed very poor judgment but Martin was not the young angel that the press also made him out to be for weeks. And I do believe that Zimmerman was getting his ass kicked by Martin and was scared shitless when he shot Martin.

 

I don't know what to believe. I wasn't there. The only people who were are either dead or highly questionable. I'm not saying the story is true. It might be totally fabricated. I was just curious where you got your series of events.

 

Sort of like following and confronting someone over a damn parking spot?

since when has getting shot and killed been the answer/consequence for doing something wrong/stupid? That's the issue. Lets say Trayvon Martin was a huge punk, totally disrespectful, (we don't know this but lets say) - so you get to shoot him? This guy was shoved to the ground, so you get to shoot him? Our nation has a system of justice, and it was applied under intense worldwide scrutiny in the Trayvon Martin case, with a clear verdict of self-defense. Read the transcript and try really, really hard to find any credible testimony or facts in evidence that suggest otherwise. Others have tried and failed.

I watched the video with a stopwatch. Less than 1 second passed from the time the gun was drawn and fired, and he began drawing the gun as the guy was towering over him about to finish him off. The attacker starts to back off as soon as he sees the gun coming out but everything is in motion by that time. Had there been no gun the attacker would have continued his attack, perhaps crippling or killing the victim.

I'd like to think my reflexes are quicker than the victim's, and maybe I'd notice him back up at the last half-second and hold my fire, but hindsight is golden.

It's pretty clear he did nothing to provoke a blindsided attack by a guy he hadn't yet even set eyes on.
