It feels like when he builds things up people are disappointed and when he gets real with fans he’s a jerk.
It’s the sequence, he doesn’t start out being real with fans, he builds it up, then when it doesn’t work out and is questioned all of a sudden now he’s going to be “real” with fans. People tend to like people they feel are authentic more often than not. It’s like he’s only “real” with fans when it doesn’t go his way so he’s being defensive and condescending all at once. I understand, it can seem like he’s in a no win situation other than you know actually winning.
It’s not just the TPE, actually it really isn’t the TPE, it’s the clear objective of adding playoff tested veterans and the complete failure to follow through. Why the FUCK would you target Hezonja, Stauskas, and Curry (just the guys we know of) when you’ve made it to clear to everyone you wanted guys with a track record of at least PARTICIPATING in the playoffs?? It makes no fucking sense, it’s like he wakes up and throws a dart at an nba player database and goes after whoever it lands on. Where’s the plan? And if the plan were players like that all along, why the fuck would you lead fans on for NO reason?
Well he did possibly inquire about Kawhi and Love (both NBA champions) but you dismiss that as part of some plan just to make it look like he's trying.
If the report is to be believed, he tried getting Kawhi without including CJ. He may as well saved himself that phone call, especially when reportedly one of the Spurs non negotiables was getting a 20 point scorer in return. Give me a break.
how many fan bases are pissed off at the coach and GM of a team that wins 49 games and comes in 3rd in a brutal conference. Not many I assume. Imagine if they sucked.
Playoff coaches with more success than what the Blazers have/had get fired somewhat regularly. I mean I get what you’re saying, but it doesn’t really counter what a few of us have said. It just seems like you’re saying we should leave it be until they suck?
I’d rather suck than be what we are now. We’d at least have higher draft picks/more room for improvement.
I agree, it doesn't fix our problems. Nothing short of adding another CJ level or better player is going to fix our problems. But they obviously wanted to clear minutes for our young bigs.
He hasn’t made a big deal since Nurk. And I completely get that people want to see progress by way of trades. But putting 2+2 together, knowing what we know, I think pa and no are reluctant to trade cj and that’s the only way to drastically change the team. Have to wait it out. Maybe the trade deadline
Would he even entertain taking on bad 2-year salary with the TPE to get an asset that'll still be around when the bad contracts are off the books? I thibk thats a good course of action too.
Yup, you can definitely criticize the execution but to make the playoffs and get the 10th pick in a loaded draft is basically the same as tanking. His job basically depends on Zach Collins now because of it. That is why he is clearing the way for him to have a major role. He either turns into a quality player and Olshey probably keeps his job or he doesn't pan out and Olshey is gone. It's pretty much that simple.
