Interesting thought. Would you be so kind as to give me an example of another player in the history of the NBA who is Simons' size who has been successful as a SF?

I really don't like his game tbh. Can't shoot, doesn't pass, doesnt defend.

I think it’s hard to judge role players on bad teams, would he better suited as a role player on a different team? Or is he just bad?

But you judge Tobias, just saying.. he's been in similarly awful situations.

IMO, there's a certain level of ineptitude that eliminates the situational ellimment and flat out shows a player as inept. If you're as bad as he is in those categories, a better team won't improve those to average.

Detroit and the clippers are no where close to the level of ineptitude as what Phoenix has been.
You’re probably right about warren though.

Pheonix had Detroit/LAC level success T l at the very start of Warrens career. And it's not like Booker hasn't been able to shine.

I actually paid attention to Warren when he was a star at NC State. He never showed anything more to me.

Fair enough, I think Booker is the epitome of ball hog with no defense, but I think that’s just part of playing the 2 I guess.

Adrian Dantly was 6’5” and did very well with the Jazz.

The problem with your thought, is that clearly
    Anfernee Simons isn't small enough.

    This should do the trick:

    Simson, Simons, close enough.

Perfect. Of course, he was a legit 6'5" as contrasted with Simons' fake 6'4", and he was built like a rock rather than a rail, but aside from those minor differences, that is an excellent comparison.

How about a 6'4" SF who averaged (per 48 :bgrin:) 36 pts; 4.8 reb; 3.4 asst; .649 eFG% with a PER of 29.9? And held his opponents to an eFG% of .373; 12.4 pts and a PER of 6.2??

    [fun with statistics]

And what if he was already on the team???

We were successful with a Dame/CJ/Napier lineup. Simons is bigger than Napier

Not on the regular though. That 3 guard lineup was situational. You implied that Simons could be the full-time starter at SF. Do you honestly believe that a starting lineup featuring Dame, CJ, and Simons--even with Zach and Nurk in the frontcourt--could be effective defensively?

    I very much do not

Yes, I think it can work, many switches in the backcourt, superior rim protector in Collins and a very good defender in Nurkic.

What about lineups where all three of those guys are considerably smaller and not much quicker?

I think this would work well against three quarters of the teams out there. The bigger elite teams will eat us alive. Thinking teams like phili and gsw.

The successful teams dont have the biggest badest bigmen but they do have larger wings and guards. I think we are building ourselves out of this trend but maybe a frw years too early. I think the young bigs coming into the game will change it back to small quick guards who can pass inside soon. But maybe not soon enough for us.
