Duncan leads all players with his 10th selection, while his teammate Bowen, the leading vote-getter, earns his seventh appearance. Also selected to the First Team is 2006-07 NBA Defensive Player of the Year Marcus Camby of the Denver Nuggets at center, his third such honor. Rounding out the First Team are guards Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers , who earns his seventh selection, and Raja Bell of the Phoenix Suns , making his first appearance on an All-Defensive team. Bowen?s and Duncan?s defense helped the Spurs hold opponents to 90.1 ppg (first in NBA) and .433 from the field (third). San Antonio has finished in the top five in both categories in each of Duncan?s 10 seasons. Camby led the NBA in blocks (3.30 bpg) to go along with 11.7 rpg (tied for fourth in NBA). Bryant ranked 17th in steals with 1.44 per game, while Bell often matches up against the opposition?s best offensive player. The NBA All-Defensive Second Team consists of Chicago teammates Ben Wallace and Kirk Hinrich, New Jersey?s Jason Kidd, Detroit?s Tayshaun Prince and Minnesota?s Kevin Garnett.</div>

Kobe and Bowen on 1st team????This was all about reputation, not actually who performed well this season.

Marion should have made it though, he is the Suns best defender.

It goes by position, not just who are the best defenders. It is all-defensive team, and you can't make up a team of 4 forwards (well, you can, but not logical). And as I said, Hinrich is arguably the best perimeter defender in the league. It got him a spot on team USA, it is why Wade has like 15PPG vs the Bulls for his career, and it is why he is on the all-defensive team. Bowen and Kobe are much more controversial. Kobe hasn't been doing well defensively this year, and Bowen has been burned on countless occasions due to his body aging.

Kobe - Opposing shooting guards went off for an efg% of .514 against Bryant this year. That is worse than the league average. Bell - I just dont like his attitude. D Harris - Also a great defender. Dallas' Defensive Rating is 10.2 points per 100 possessions better with Harris on the floor,Battier - He made the Rockets defense the 3rd best in the league. The Grizzlies defense fell all the way to last. J Collins - New Jersey's defense improves by 8.2 points per 100 possessions.Billups, Stevenson, Mourning, Marion, Ross, Brand, Rasho, JHoward, Manu, Rip, Snow, and Duhon are good too.

Bell really deserved the spot this year, but Marion not even on the second team..ugh, he deserved it and now he's going to complain some more. Hopefully he reacts to a snub like last year and plays better instead of hurting the team because he wants to prove something.

I agree with him being deserving, though.NO on Jason Collins. I watch a good 50-60 NJ games a year, and the only reaosn he makes any impact whatsoever is because Nets haven't had another big body the whole year. He is not a great defender, just a big body, something which Nets don't have outside of him.

And Nitro steals the thread again. Kirk Hinrich, even with this honor, is one of the most underrated defensive players in the NBA.

Why do half the all defense players have their teams do better defensively when they're out of the game?
