well....there's a lot of things I'd like to be but can't but hey....I'm happy.....also, Kingspeed is a great forum member...glad to have him as a tag in a reply to my posts...he's a die hard fan...one day I'll go to a game with him. To my point, we've never had a roster with as many 3 pt shooters as we have this season..myself...I like it.
Here's the thing about Aminu playing the 3. Terry likes a ballhandler there. Aminu ain't it nor should be be.
Harkless isnt a ball handler either. I think the reason Aminu plays so much four is because of the spacing he provides. Ideally Collins develops properly and takes over at power forward and Aminu moves to the three. But the more likely scenario will be Aminu getting dumped for nothing because of the luxury tax.
Terry and me both. It is essential that we have a 3rd ball handler. It is never more apparent as in the playoffs when other teams turn up the intensity on D.
Oh yeah, this was the whole reason they brought Evan Turner in. Too bad he can’t do anything except shoot inefficient fadeaway jumpers. I’d rather they played Baldwin or Trent next year.
I don’t think it has to be a “ball handler” as much as it needs to be someone who can pass and facilitate. ET isn’t good at that, Moe, Aminu, etc they’re “passing” is more or less please get the ball out of my hands. I think with some coaching, Zach or Nurk could do some of that. The Blazers to me really lack guys who are comfortable setting up the offense and having things run through them. It’s basically Dame do all the scoring and all the setting up of team mates. Maybe CJ can grow in that regard but he has proven mainly to be looking for his shot when he gets the ball. I might be an idiot here but I think so much of what made GS work (at least before KD) was how much of the offense they could run through Draymond (and he isn’t a good ball handler).
Terry was interviewed at summer league and he mentioned that they want to get back to playing through Nurk the way they did when he arrived. Giving him more freedom to pass. He averaged over 3 assists when he came over, but last year it was down to below 2. I agree about playing through Collins as well. Actually, Collins has to pretty much develop into our Draymond for us to have a chance.
Draymond played the 4 (and at times the 5) before Durant got there. For those two positions he is/was an extremely good ball handler. They would have 4-5 guys in at once who could dribble. I will be happy with just 3 in the game at the same time. (And be able to shoot)
I’d say he was an adequate ball handler for his size... I can think of many better, but they didn’t use him to make dribble moves they used him at the top of the key where he could either make a dribble or two and be at the basket or he could set up his team mates.
He is clutch when he does...seen it game after game. As I mentioned...the stats aren't JJ Reddick or Mark Price but they make them when it counts all the time..it's the ball movement and that they trust each other when it counts...I give them credit for that...Iggy has shown the same...especially in the playoffs and in tight games...they're a confident team ….it's why I think we loaded the roster with shooters this time around. The Warriors shooters are the opposite of Russell Westbrook.....he shoots them all game and bricks them in the 4th qtr...GS makes them in the 4th qtr
Right but remember they also had 3 other guys in the game with him who were even better ball handlers. So as your 4th or 5th ball handler it worked pretty well. Aminu is also adequate as your 4th or 5th ball handler, but not the 3rd. The issue is our other options either can't shoot or are too small. We still need someone to emerge at SF.
