President Donald Trump is wrongly claiming that Americans need photo IDs to buy groceries as he rails against the idea of noncitizens voting.

Trump was advocating for voter ID requirements at a Tampa, Florida, rally on Tuesday when he claimed the only time people don’t need ID is when they want to vote.

He says: “If you go out and you want to buy groceries, you need a picture on a card, you need ID. You go out and you want to buy anything, you need ID and you need your picture.”

It’s unclear when the president last purchased groceries or anything else himself.

Trump had been railing against the idea of allowing noncitizens to vote, saying, “Only American citizens should vote in American elections.”

He says, “The time has come for voter ID like everything else.”

Do I have a problem with non citizens voting in elections?

    Yes.

Do I think we need to show ID to buy groceries?

    Fuck no.

I am often waiting in line behind someone digging out their ID in the grocery store. It even happens to me!
I could hardly believe the cheekiness of this lady wanting to see my Id just because I had a rack of Hamms for the boat.

He did say it was for the boat, not him. The boat apparently drinks cheap beer.

Costco is a membership-only warehouse club. Costco issued ID is used to verify membership.

If you write a check for them you will need to show photo ID.

Don't you just tell Mr. Miller to put them on your tab, and you'll pay him when the harvest is in? And then you go down the street to the soda fountain?

I think, maybe, he was contemplating a bid to buy Safeway at one point.

Its interesting how he can be factually correct (yes, if you go to certain stores you have to show a form of ID, if you pay with a check you need to show ID), but still be wrong (most people don't shop at membership stores and paying with a check is not wide spread anymore).

Yet that portion that is correct means, to his trumpanistas, that he is 100% correct and anyone who contradicts him hates America, our troops, god, and the American way!

Trump doesn't buy his own groceries. He probably can't even boil water. It's really not surprising to find a politician is completely out of touch with average people's daily life. Remember Nancy Pelosi claiming $1000 was nothing to the average person, she spends that much on lunch? These people would shoot themselves if they had to live normal lives.
