I thought Craig was a kick ass James Bond in Casino Royale. He reminded me of Connery. The stories haven't been great since then. The next one I heard is going to be based on Risico. He is still my second favorite James Bond. Partly because we are distantly related. For me its 1.) Connery 2.) Craig 3.) Moore 4.) Dalton 5.) Brosnan 6.) Lazenby
I'll never understand all the Brosnan hate. I always thought his Bond was very debonair, which I appreciated and thought most others lacked.
Actually 3 times. It was originially made into a 1 hr live production in 1954 and Ironically Bond was played by an American actor, Barry Nelson. Though he went by Bond, Jimmy Bond.
Back on topic, I've liked Elba's work, and I think he'd play a good Bond. That said, I just watched "The Night Manager" series on Netflix, and I think that was a season-long audition for Tom Hiddleston ("Loki") for the Bond role.
I have lived in London and Birmingham for a while and my understanding is that being British includes being English, Irish (only from North Ireland, not from the republic of Ireland), Scottish and Welsh. Any ex-pat British guys might be able to clarify it, but by this definition, Brosnan who was not born in North Ireland should not be British.
British to day is probably of those considered part of the United Kingdom. This would include the places you name plus the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands off the North coast of Normandy. Northern Ireland gets a little tricky, while being part of the UK, by in large the Greenman would rather be, perhaps part of Ireland. Many have kinsman there. On the other side you have the Orangeman, mostly member of Gaelic clans with members in Scotland and the Hebrides Islands. They are the majority of Ulster counties and prefer to remain British and the UK.
I think Craig is a terrible Bond myself...too brooding and lacks the humor There are many who could play Bond well....I liked Brosnan more than Craig...I liked Connery best and Dalton and Moore....Moore was the funniest bond I think Benedict Cumberbatch(sp?) of Dr Strange and Sherlock Holmes would be a good Bond Daniel Day Lewis Hugh Jackman Russel Crowe if he lost weight again Henry Cavill Clive Owen Ralph Fiennes Christian Bale
Wonder if they will make Felix Lighter a girl. I want the old smarmy, cocky and chauvinistic Bond back.
Connery encompassed a wider range than any of his followers. A guy who could dine with royalty at a palace, run the tables at Monte Carlo, then bite off a spy's nose in a messy brawl in some ghetto alley on the way home.
