Pending health. Curry is a clear upgrade from really any bench player Portland had on the team last year. By adding him to the roster he alone will allow Portland to rely on Lillard & CJ less. But I still don't see Portland having both Lillard & CJ on the bench for lengthy stretches over a game. If at all. Spurs are different. They've had the luxury of Manu for a long time now.
I'd say Layman and Biggie and Baldwin will get the early nod before the rookies sniff much court time
The Spurs are different and Curry will thrive with us. But he's gone after next season unfortunately.
Curry is the best guard off the bench we've had since Steve Smith his last season here. I know Curry missed last season but that's been such an underrated move.
Bench only second units would be a big mistake because it wouldn't give Curry enough minutes. There's only 25 minutes behind Dame and CJ, and that's if you stagger them. Take them off the court at the same spot and you only have ~12min per player since you have to play 2 backup guards.
Well I guess some staggering would be required but a least moments of a bench only would be nice. I'm thinking during long road trips and such.
I know he was the forum whipping boy, but I'd go for a more recent guard. Moe Williams. Hopefully Curry shows up for more than just 1 game in the 2019 playoffs. But still.
I think you'll generally see a 3 guard rotation with Lillard/CJ/Curry. WB4 will prolly(who was it that hated people saying prolly? @BonesJones ) get minutes as well. Everyone else is on the outside looking in and better be ready to outwork Lillard if they want PT.
How? Mo Williams in his year here: 41.7FG% (worse than Currys career 3P%) 36.9 3P% 50.7 TS% (Curry is a 60TS% player) -2.0 BPM (Curry was 3.4 better in his year in DAL) Shabazz was better than him.
Frankly, I was talking about who's minutes he should take when you decided to put your spin on it. But I could still see him taking some of Turner's minutes. NO has said he will see some time at SF.
Stats don't really properly measure what Moe brought to the team imo. Similar to Ed Davis/Pryzbilla. Moe really helped in game 2 against the Rockets. He was ass the rest of the series. Well outside of telling Lillard to go get the ball. Granted so did Wright in that specific game. So take it for what it's worth. I feel like kingspeed saying this stuff. But I was a fan of Moe even though he was a whipping boy on this forum. To start the year? Or come late Jan/early Feb when Stotts settles on his rotation? To start the year I'm sure everyone will get PT. Stotts will eventually settle on a 3 guard rotation Lillard/CJ/Curry(pending health) Harkless/Turner(due to contract, but I do believe Stotts has no issues with benching this fool for someone else.)/WB4 Aminu/Collins Nurk/Nards I don't think the rookies(pending health/foul trouble) will get much of a look past December. I'm not sure if I'm excited or not about the Nards/Collins experiement. Sure it will allow Collins to play closer to the rim with Nards ability to stretch the floor. But I'm just not excited to watch this man plan more than spot minutes. BTW this WB4 thing is your fault. His play to end the season, and your insistence on him not being a liability offensively forced me to look at him closer. If he can make shots and keep the floor spread. Their is no chance he doesn't steal minutes.
