What happens behind closed doors stays behind closed doors.

Edit: Well, there was that one time in Tijuana.

    Just stop.
You literally ignored the main point because it's inconvenient for you.
There is no difference between 'gamers' who don't make it to the pros. And 'athletes' who don't make it to the pros.
Both could end up living with their parents basement doing nothing.
Using that as a reason why 'schools' shouldn't offer something is completely illogical.
Art Majors/etc also could live in their parents basement becoming nothing.

However one you approve of. The other you don't.
    Both can make universities money.
Which is why they've been offered in colleges for years all over the country.
The fact you don't know this... Shows you're not very educated on whats offered in colleges for longer than I've been an adult.
Why do colleges offer these things? They make money off it.
That alone would mean someone of your business savvy. Should be enough for you.

Again. You can believe trades should be forced on kids. But that is a completely different topic.

Please don't refer to fellow posters using the 'B' word. I appeal to your good side.

I have no idea what Ice Cube said. Could you possibly be any more vague?

I've always found dishonest people to be overly vague. Not saying that you are dishonest but I am saying it's not the best approach to use with most people.

Honestly, with me, vague is usually better.

He can call me whatever he wants.
Simply because when he resorts to that, he then gets people to stop talking to him.
It means he can't argue the point.

There is no difference between college athletes who don't go pro, yet failed to take school seriously.
    And
These 'gamers or nerds' who don't turn pro. If these same people failed to not take school seriously.

Colleges make money off of students by offering courses.
Being that there is a ton of 'gamers or nerds' willing to pay private people to help them improve.
Colleges picked up on it and decided to get in on the money years ago.

Video gaming is often addictive behaviour. In college sports, athletes play sports and train, however, none really stay up 18 hours per day in isolation obsessing over it.

Its also easier to become a professional video game player outside the confines of a college environment.

There’s a lot wrong here... Many professional gamers live fairly normal lives and consider gaming their job. They work out, they have social lives, have relationships.

Sure gaming can be addictive but literally almost anything can be.

As gaming gets bigger and bigger it will become harder and harder to be a professional gamer.

As it gets bigger, more people will be addictive.

This is a rehab center they made for gamers in South Korea.

For most, Video Games are a destructive lifestyle when taken past the point of recreation.

...Lanny, that's all well and good but I'm sure most people who post here don't speak to others in real life as they do here...and yes I'm probably as guilty as the next poster for doing just that.

...but we aren't speaking to others here face to face and the anonymity of the internet allows people to create a false persona on message boards/twitter etc., and they sometimes act like a horse's ass...so it's the faceless poster I'm responding to, not the actual person.

Well this is called changing the arguement.
The discussion is professional gaming, Akron U having a esports program.
No one is encouraging addiction, just as I don’t get upset at alcohol companies advertising that we should drink more alcohol. Alcohol addiction is a big problem too.

If you want to talk about video game addiction we’ll sure that is a real problem.

So there won't be addictive gamers in an esports program?

I don't have a link, but I do assume that it didn't end well for them.
