John McCain gave his entire adult life serving America. He was a civil servant, who tried to make America better. Sure some of his beliefs might differ from yours....I know I don't share his beliefs on certain things, but he should be honored as the American hero he was.

My Grandma(who I've seen twice in my life, but stayed in contact with) passed away Monday the 20th.
When I put a certain few pictures up on my facebook after the tourney, she called me and 'talked with me about the company I keep'.
(I don't update my facebook very often, nor am I on it often)
She said to me, 'Brandon when I asked for more pictures of you, and your life. I expected to see friends of yours. But you actually put a _____ on your facebook. You know how that looks right?'
Me - 'No grandma it's just a picture, why does it matter?'
I won't repeat her response but I'm sure you can imagine what sort of response I received.
    (the pic is still up)

While I disagree with her completely about judging someone shes never met off of a picture.
I still am going to miss her, and her letters/emails. I'm going to regret that in my 29 years I only got to spend 3 weeks with her in person.
I'm going to miss the call I got every Birthday/Christmas afternoon from her.
She has other step-grandchildren. Closer relatives, even my biological father is there. But she still made time to show she cared enough to remember my birthday, and call me on holidays.

John McCain most likely has someone in his life who will miss him like I'm going to miss my grandma.
Even though this someone prolly didn't see eye to eye with him on many things.
That's the point I was trying to make with my original post.

"McCain chose Barack Obama and George W. Bush -- the two men who kept him from the White House -- to eulogize him and didn't want the President to attend his funeral. If those plans hold, McCain will be sending a clear final message to Trump, after making clear when he was alive that he saw the President's demeanor, populist style and global outlook as antithetical to America's founding values and global role."

You didn't read shit that I posted riverman. And you misconstrued every word I said.

    Whitesplain???

White wash and Whitesplain don't mean the same thing do they?

What the actual fuck are you talking about!

I never said her sent my cousins to war river.... READ...

I said he VOTED to send my cousins to war....

Can you not see the difference? It's like you formed your own opinion about what I said and responded to THAT instead of me...

The musicians you named weren't in part responsible for sending our kids to a war that NEVER needed to happen... That's not nearly on par with McCain's transgressions.

He wasn't some good guy because he survived Vietnam. He was an ass back then. Do you or do you not remember the Keating five?

I hate it when people whitewash history.

And since you don't seem to know what whitewash means....

    white·wash
deliberately attempt to conceal unpleasant facts about (a person or organization).
"his wife must have wanted to whitewash his reputation"
synonyms: cover up, sweep under the carpet, hush up, suppress, draw a veil over, conceal, veil, obscure, keep secret;More
    gloss over, downplay, soft-pedal
    "don't whitewash what happened"

Whitesplaning???? WTF are you talking about...?

This is disappointing, though not surprising.

Good grief, now I feel guilty. I never lowered my flag. Thanks for the tip. I won't make that mistake again.

I agree except that I don't recall that scare tactic.

No, you're like the 3rd guy in a row telling me my TPS report needs a cover sheet.

I think McCain lived a full life and admitted to many of his mistakes. Ultimately that’s all I hope for in my own life. That when I’m at the end I can say I did what I thought was right, and when I ended up being wrong I was man enough to stand up and say it.
McCain fought for some crappy things (as does almost every politician at one point or another).
I agree that we shouldn’t scrub away all the bad things he did because he died.

Yeah, if you could make sure to use the blue cover sheet next time, that'd be great.

...I've asked him to just post the link and give people the option view it if they choose instead of filling a page with a giant wall of words...no luck.

...rather not use the "ignore" feature....I wish there were some other sort of filter for insanely long posts.

my post was clear....yeah, I misread whitewash and whitesplain…it was late when I read that ….try reading after taking my 10 pills a day to slow my heart rate and get back to me...my point is this thread was not the place to bash the guy whether you like him or not....and Miles Davis sent Coleman Hawkins into a mental institution by getting him back on heroin the day he got out of rehab where he never recovered....Miles had a really ugly history but recorded my favorite jazz album of the 50s...my point if you actually read my post was that when a guy like Miles died...it's not what I focused on...when McCain dies...you pretty much went all out to discredit the guy.then bash forum members who showed respect because you're "tired of hearing people show respect for someone you don't respect"..c'mon man..voting for a war is different from sending a person to war....your cousin knew what the military was...he must have volunteered unlike my war...when you talk about war....consider some of us have actually had that experience. Read the first sentence of my post....you might not like McCain but...as far as I'm concerned....your post lacked class considering the thread...and we didn't need the negative McCain lecture around here...is what it is. You'd be surprised how welcome bombers have been from ground troops in many wars...McCain was a pilot. Those bombers stopped WWII....anyway your posts concerning McCain's passing I found in bad taste...
