...well, since I'm no young buck anymore I do have a big concern about falling...but for me, it's more than just the hunt itself. It also has a lot to to with preparation such as trail cameras, mowing, harrowing, prepping, and planting the food plots, keeping the feeders in order, etc., ...we usually start in July for a deer season that doesn't open till October.
Go for it! Especially if you enjoy it. Oh BTW. Did you see? I corrected my error where I was speaking of the Model 94 Winchester. This the model B92 in the .357 caliber.
...yup, that's why when possible I take deer with a head shot. If you shoot one in the lungs or sometimes in the heart they can still run a long way and like you said once they've been hit and start running the adrenaline has kicked in and it can definitely have an effect on the taste of the meat...that's also why I prefer young does to bucks, especially during the rut.
I’m a helluva cat hunter myself. Knocking them off the fence with my Daisy BB gun is pure adrenaline. Especially if they fall on the dog’s side of the fence........
I would use my BB gun for keeping the Blue Jays away....can't stand those thieves that chase away all the songbirds! Only we manly men weild the Daisy BB gun!
Never hunted. My dad had a couple guns till after vietnam. My friend corey and I used to shoot his dads guns. He lived way out past silverton in the middle of nowhere. We'd take his dads 20 gauge and 30 aught 6 and shoot them out a ways in the wilderness. I don't have any guns, don't need em. I don't hunt. My hands work fine for all else.
...yeah, different states have different laws...hell, in fact different counties in Georgia have different laws. In my county you're allowed 12 deer per season. But because of over population the DNR changes it annually and this year no more than 2 of your harvest can be bucks. ...deer are so plentiful here that hitting them with a car is commonplace. I've heard stories about deer coming through the windshield and injuring or even killing the occupants, sometimes from flailing and kicking them to death.
