Can you imagine Kobe averaging just 20 ppg for a series and scoring 8 in the clinching game? Can you imagine Wade making just 1 field goal in a half in an important playoff game? Can you imaging Tmac shooting 38% from the field for a whole series? Or Nash shooting 22% from the three point line? The answer to all these is a resounding NO. That is why Dirk choked. Once you're the MVP, it won't cut it to just play only three minutes of MVP ball for an entire series. Any way you cut it he choked.

Re: The official "Dirk is a choker" thread I hate how people always rag on dirk if anything at all, no matter how small, happens to the mavs. The warriors know how to guard him is all; they double and triple team him each possession and force him to give the ball up, then, because of how small and quick they play, they close on the teammate recieving the pass. The heat did this last year too. These are the only two series where people say dirk has choked, and in both, the two teams just sent tons of defenders at him and forced the ball away...... not chokingdon't worry, dirkI still got your back. :happy0144:

It is no small thing for the title favorites to give up a seemingly unrelinquishable finals lead and then be on the wrong side of arguably the biggest upset of all time.
Re: The official "Dirk is a choker" thread I think it's now clear to just about everyone, that Dirk Nowitzki is a hell of a player, but not a player thats going to take over the game when needed in big moments consistantly. In the NBA there's two kinds of superstars, Michael Jordan superstars and Kevin Garnett superstars, and it's clear right now that Dirk is in the later.

Re: The official "Dirk is a choker" thread I agree with BCB...but what big man can take over a game...not many...maybe KG or Duncan...but right now, nobody else can like a guard can.doesn't mean hes a choker...

Until then, it stands that his choking is what stands between the team and two championship rings.
Re: The official "Dirk is a choker" thread Nope...hes not a choker. And he didnt choke last year...he still played very well, but the Mavs just couldnt stop Wade...and if you expect Dirk to stop Wade, your not very bright.Dirk defienty didnt choke in the Finals last season...just unbelievable play by Wade.

I don't like nitpicking on typos but it's consistent and happened at least ten times with that word, which leads me to believe that you simply don't know how to spell it and wish to educate you on that case. Sorry, it's just my pet peeve that people on message boards always spell that word wrong As for the choking, he choked in games 4 and 5 last year, which was enough to lose them the series.
Re: The official "Dirk is a choker" thread No, Wade was incredible and took over all the games, like I stated above a big man cant take over a game. He didnt choke. And Im probably far more "bright" or intelligent that you, so dont try to call me out on that.

He dropped 50+ on the Suns in the playoffs last year, he took over in game 5 vs GS, and has taken over in the regular seaosn before. he is more than capable of taking over a series, but against GSW he choked and played like crap for 5 of the 6 games.
Re: The official "Dirk is a choker" thread Dirk didn't "choke" in the finals last year. He still put up around 24 and 10. DWade was unstoppable. On the "no matter how small" I didn't mean it to be like losing in the playoffs against the Heat or the Warriors. Just in general, if something little happened, dirk would get the blame. My bad.

Whenever a superstar's team loses in the playoffs, it is on him, whether it be a fair assesment or not.
Re: The official "Dirk is a choker" thread It's no doubt that athletic and long players give Dirk problems. Also Dirk had to guard Stephen Jackson which took a lot out of him. He normally doesn't guard someone that fast. It was all about matchups. Against any other team Dirk would've done much better. Phoenix also might've bothered Dirk but even their tempo isn't as fast as Golden State.
