The VA made my mom go through hell after my dad suffered a traumatic brain injury. We were dirt poor and the VA contributed to it... And you know what my mom did? Treated people with respect, and didn't become a victim of her circumstances. She actually went to a couple conventions just to create connections to be able to get a meeting with someone high enough to listen to her. She changed things for the better for so many people. What does she do now? Shes a nurse, and a damn good one. She takes great care of people.

Meanwhile, you've been off the rails lately because of this...? Really? No matter what the cause, the stuff you've been posted has been horrible lately.

You single-handedly ruin the OT section for me, and it's not because I don't agree with your views.

The original thread "what is racism" actually was headed in that direction until it became a pissing contest...too many threads have this endgame...sad

It’s why I’m hesitant to be in the OT section or broach certain subjects online.

It's a real conundrum why a thread fails.
You're certainly not looking for dialogue when you ask a question.
Yet in your opening post imply you have the only acceptable answer to said question.
Especially when your answer is politically motivated.

That thread was shit show from the very first post. Just like this one.

Wow! The entire Pacific coast in both directions single handed and now this. Nearly effortless too.

many cod, halibut, salmon and albacore fishermen annually and bi-annually brother, but admittedly not under sail. implied disbelief i presume? lol, i have spent nearly my entire adult life on the water fishing for a living. if it makes you prouder of your own accomplishments i will add that boats often run out of sight of one another but in frequent radio contact. have even crossed straight from newport to dutch harbor, 10 days, though not single handed. have you?

i alluded in another post to you that this is a port that i never made call in and still wish i had. i have known a few exemplary fishermen from there, dedicated to their industry and maintaining the highest standard of maintenance on their vessels. many wooden halibut, black cod, and salmon boats called sitka home. i am envious of your plans to visit there. be safe.

Hiatal hernia perhaps? I have one, 5cm and it is a bitch at times. The pain mimics angina. Feels like I am having a heart attack sometimes. I'm taking pills till I get surgery to fix it. I genuinely hope that you get to feeling better.

Look I get the whole I don't want to pay for my ancestors deeds spiel. I do. But, the fact remains, the system of opression that this country was built on, persists; one that benefits white men above all others. The United States has made long strides, but there is still a ways to go.

You go to any emergency room they will get you in the same day. At least I should hope so. That said, OHSU is the best hospital in Portland.

As would I. We tried in the What is Racism thread and others before it. Simply, there are those who do not wish to have the conversation and discourse devolves into chaos.

In some areas and probably overall, but I worked at OHSU for 7 years and my father taught there for 30 years. Pediatric medicine and level 1 trauma, vision, cancer and some other specialties are excellent but I would never go there for a more common general surgery. I’d go to Providence for that. OHSU docs are concerned with performing at a high level but they often are not the best at diagnosis because they don’t interact well with the patients.

There is a good chance you will not get a diagnosis in the emergrncy room. I went to the ermergency room twice last year thinking I was havingba heart attack. They just said it wasn't my heart, we don't know what it is, you'll survive and sent me on my way. Had an intense abodominal pain this spring. First they thought it was my appendix, then a my pancreas, then a blockage. Couldn't figure it out.

I finally had my pcp refer me to a specialist at OHSU on the waterfront. Went in got an edoscopy, found out I have a 5cm hiatal hernia that has been causing both the chest pain and abdominal pain. Also esophagitis. Turns out it hurts when your stomach bursts through your diaphragm.

Hope you get that fixed up soon.

I’m so sick of how expensive healthcare is. I would support Trump forever if he get fully behind universal HC. I’d go to his white-pride rallies and sport his hat.

I’d support anyone at this point. It’s just wrong and America is much worse off because we put private enterprise above heath of the citizens.
