This gave me a little rollercoaster ride: In the beginning it made me feel a little queasy and worried, but then Trump reminded me a lot of my mom's mom, Grannie, which was kind of endearing, I must admit, because I love her. But then back to queasy/worried when I think of the more than a decade she's been in a dementia ward...yikes.

    Hmm, a few thoughts.

I am not a Woodward fan. He peaked with his reporting on Nixon and has been trying to repeat over the past several decades. Obviously a liberal that has seldom had anything nice to say about a GOP President.

I would give the book a few weeks and pick it up in the bargain bin or a discount site like here https://www.thriftbooks.com/a/bob-woodward/199749/ It may be worth the 3.99 price.

I would have to think if people were hiding or stealing memos, or other papers off the Presidents desk,, that would be pretty damn serious and likely open one up to prosecution.

As to the taped conversation, I am sure that something mentioned to Trump about Woodward means a lot more to the writer that to Trump, so I take it for what it is worth. Seems more like Trump was feeling out what to expect from the book.

Sure. Wouldn't that be kind of missing the bigger point, though?

    I can't understand this sentence.

Well, Trump didn't really get any info, did he? Trump assumed the book would be "inaccurate", Woodruff corrected him and said the book would in fact be "accurate"...and the phone convo came after the book was finished so there was nothing really for Woodruff to learn from talking with Trump.

As to the sentence in question, he obviously had it mentioned to him, though in a grander scheme of things, I would think that demands of the White House would have far more importance than remembering some mention of a request by a writer that publicly criticizes every move you make.

We only have about 50 people close to the white house now saying the administration is dysfunctional and Trump is incapable....when is the last time 20 tell all books were written within a year and a half of an election? Clown town! Getting elected by insult and twitter apparently doesn't set much precedent for a new administration..yet it's the only play in his playbook...talk about a house of cards...time for an easy chair and some popcorn

Wow, you really jumped to a conclusion here. The President found out that Woodward was in fact not going to be complimentary.

Of course the writer said it would be based on fact, what else was he going to say. "Oh, no, its a bunch of half backed horseshit"???

Have you read any of Woodwards stuff? There is a reason that he has written a bunch, but most can only name one. To say the guy is a leftist hack is unkind to leftists and to hacks as well.

1...no, no "jumping to conclusion"...not at all, but I'm not surprised you responded that way...Woodward did not say it was going to be "uncomplimentary"...again, that's what Trump "assumed"...big difference.

2...is there anything about this book thus far that makes you believe that Trump is not a liar and/or that Woodward is a liar?

3...No, I've never read his stuff,...I've never been inside a refrigerator either, but I'm fairly certain the fucking light goes out when you close the door.

Well, apparently, he made the correct assumption. In reading the transcript, that would have been what I would have taken from the conversation as well.

On this book, I have not read it yet, so I am unable to give more than a passing reference to his past writings, that are very stilted.

And, well...probably a good idea for you to stay out of refrigerators...hahahha

Oh, I see, you mean that Trump didn't remember being asked about an interview with Woodward. That's certainly possible, he probably forgets lots of stuff.

Arguing against that is that Trump is notoriously publicity-hungry and found the time to make this call to Woodward. And that it is a pattern with his denial to Omarosa that he knew she'd been fired.

Either way, I don't think his knowledge of the request is an important point.

Understandable point, although I think he mad the call to see what type of damage control he would have to field..but that is how I read it..you are correct though, not the big picture...I think that is whether or not he has an out of control staff stealing memos and documents.

    Well, either

    A) he's a raging nutbag like everyone who comes in contact with him thinks, or
    B) his staff are out-of-control nasty conniving backstabbers, a fact that reflects very badly on him, or
    C) Woodward pulled the entire book out of his ass and the White House is a finely tuned machine.

Or any combination of the above. Since Woodward has tapes, and Omarosa has tapes, and Cohen has tapes... I'm leaning towards A+B.

Yeah....I have to lean towards B..everyone taping each other? Or just the President? And yea, it does not reflect well.
