Absolutely, and be ready and able to replace them when they move on to greener pastures. Which imo was one of the major downfalls of both Andersen and Helfrich. They both made horrible hires once it came time to replace assistants.

Speaking of Duck's football games, anyone headed down to Eugene on Saturday for the U of O vs. Portland State massacre?

This will be my first time attending a game at Autzen Stadium. Any recommendations on how long to allow for the drive down from Portland, where to park, etc.?

My youngest daughter is a cheerleader for Portland State and cheering at Autzen is a dream come true for her. I just hope Portland State scores at least one touchdown, so she will have something to cheer about.

I bought tickets in the 4th row of the visitor section for myself and my ex-wife, so both mom and dad could be there together to see her cheer in front of 54,000 people. I'm even enduring the drive down to Eugene and back in the same vehicle as my ex. I'll be the one driving. So, that rules out alcohol for me. Any other time and frustration saving tips would be appreciated.

On Franklin Street there is a Hotel across from the Matt Knight arena with parking behind, you will see the sign. From there its just a quick walk across a bridge to the Stadium. It's really a fun walk too.
I would get down early, allow at least 2 1/2 drive and about 30 minutes to get where parking is. The walk will take about 15 minutes or so.

Have great time and Im sure PSU will score at least a couple td's.

If you have a travel trailer to pull behind you for the ex to ride in, I’d recommend that.

Im A duck fan and I know that OSU doesn’t want my pity, but I feel kind of bad for how the last couple years have gone for them. I thought Anderson ditching the way he did was lame.

Well, my daughter got to cheer at Autzen Stadium. Wasn't a lot to cheer about for Portland State, but she still enjoyed herself and I enjoyed being there for her.

I agree. I think Smith is going to be a good coach and turn it around there in a few years.

We had great seats - 4th row right in front of the PSU cheerleaders. Even the ex-wife and I got along great. It was fun for both us to see our daughter cheer at Autzen and our daughter was very happy that we were both there to support her. All-in-all, a very good day. I took over 100 photos - all of my daughter, none of the actual game. I have my priorities.

Glad you enjoyed it, and glad she enjoyed herself too.

The Beavs are going to win some games this year. They’re much better than I thought they’d be.

I've heard from a Beaver donor friend of mine that the reason he left so abruptly was because he was about to be outed for having relations with a cheerleader. The powers that be there found that to be more then lame and showed him the door.

It makes sense too as neither side wants this to come out. OSU avoids a much bigger PR disaster and paying the millions left on the contract. Anderson leaves those millions on the table & looks like a scumbag leaving his team mid-season, but the silence allows him to turn the page and continue with his career elsewhere.

I don't know how OSU does it, but Oregon's HC doesn't hire the DC the AD (Rob Mullens) does. Clearly Pellum and Hoke were suspect hires as they had zero experience as a Coordinator which is why they were so cheap. They didn't even interview someone with experience so it seems to me that they were primarily looking for a low priced option.

Like any Offensive HC, I'm sure Helfrich would have preferred having an experienced/quality DC in charge of his D rather then a rookie. Lesson learned, Mullens paid Jim Leavitt triple what he'd paid Hoke and Pellum and then gave him a raise to stay after year 1.
