Ditto. I grew up in that general ‘hood also. In grade school, we did safety patrol at the crosswalk at 39th and Brooklyn. It was as dangerous in the mid 60’s as it is now. They can change the name of that street as many times as they like, it will always be “f*****g 39th” to me......

 

My grandfather's house was on 29th and Brooklyn. We would go to the Lutheran church on 39th and Brooklyn on Christmas and Easter. I used to shoot hoops in their parking lot.

 

Its just weird there isn't a Stark Street in Downtown. Kind of like Naito Parkway, how it was always Front Ave or whatever (UP NAITO FX BRO!)

 

And we should really have more Portland Icons, it would make the streets more unique to Oregon (Bud Clark, Ramblin Rod, Jim Spagg, etc)

 

If they ever put Neil Goldschmidt's name on any building and avenue, this town has lost it.

 

Whatever else he was, he was a good mayor.
