...yeah, sadly, most of the GOP have put the party ahead of the country and IMO, the Republican party as we knew it, is dying a slow death.

I hope your right but I can't think of 2 republicans who will vote against him. They have proven time and time again that they don't really care about sexual misconduct (unless it's a democrat) and they dont really care about womens issues in general, yet they still have all the power. Damaged goods or not, Kavenaugh will most likely be making policy for us for decades.

If white suburban women couldn't keep Trump out of office vs Clinton then I don't have much hope for that tactic in general.

...I think it's a chicken shit move by the libs...don't you find the timing of this whole thing a bit too convenient for the Dems?...I do.

...this shit storm has very little to do with right or wrong, but instead has more to do with making this accuser a pawn in a strictly political move by the Dems.

...but yeah, I really don't see how these accusations can be either proven or disproven but I do think they may put doubt in enough GOP members' minds to cause them to vote against Kavenaugh, which IMO, is a ploy by the dems with hopes of somehow postponing the actual confirmation of a new SC judge until after the midterms.

Well, the "libs" took a page from the republicans book, and are using it against them.

I agree the timing is not optimal but there are a couple additional things to consider, IMO.

-We went through this with another SCOTUS appointee and the woman did go public and testified to behavior that was obviously humiliating to her and was not believed. The accuser did not initially want to go through that.

-She was traumatized enough by the event that she discussed it in counseling 6 years ago and it can be corroborated independently by the therapist and her husband.

    -She passed a polygraph test.

Do you want a SCOTUS that thinks the President is above the law? Kavanaugh does. The republicans are getting their just dues for their refusal to even vote on Garland.

Yep. it's quite frustrating. Although one side (R) is much better at it than the other. Democrats don't stand their ground at all. They see the snake and pick it up, no matter how many times the snake bites them.

...lol, yeah, I read about that...I wonder what the odds that Kavenaugh would consent to taking a polygraph.

...I believe we'll see many voters from both parties become "independents" instead.

I think you could be right. Just as the Republicans made sure Obama wasn’t able to appoint his SCJ. We aren’t living in a world with honorable politicians on either side for the most part.

But I do agree with @barfo that there were more than enough reasons why all the senators should have opposed the nomination from the already presented testimony. A SCJ should never lie under oath which has already been demonstrated.

...Oh, I agree...like I've mentioned a few times, the Senate seems like they could care less for what's in the best interest for you and I...they're more concerned with getting re-elected at all cost and to vote along party lines, instead of what's best for the country as a whole.

Sanders is a Socialist who realizes his only chance to hold any office is to deceive the voters, so he calls himself an Independent.

A Socialist calling himself "Independent" = hysterical irony.

This is a root of much of what is wrong in America. Politicians are incentivized to do what monied interests want irrespective of their constituents. One option is term limits but that means they may not have the expertise required to grasp complex situations. Limiting campaign resources is another option but at this point that will require a constitutional amendment. I don’t know how to fix the situation but I don’t trust most politicians, at least high level ones.

Got to revisit this as I realize I let you lead me down the garden path here.

Yes, one is innocent until proven guilty. In a criminal trial.

This is not a criminal trial. This is a job interview, basically.

The burden is not on the job interviewer to show you aren't a good candidate.

The burden is on you to show you are the best available candidate.

Given this and all the other issues with this candidate - wouldn't it make sense for the employer to interview another candidate?
