I love ''East Coast'' Rap .. Hip HopNew York Hip Hop throught the late 70's and 80's and aswell as the early 90's was amazing, hip hop at it's best. truly the best rap was done in that peroid of time. As for now, it's ..mm still fairly good, id take a new york rap artist over a southern or west coast artist probley.
...you dont know half of the legends from the south..just as good and better than alotve New York rappers.Anyways, check this dude out. His name is the Q, and hes pretty good. What U Been Waiting 4 is my favorite...hes coming out with a new mixtape soon.http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=203307
There's Dem Franchize Boyz, Eightball & MJG (okay but im not a huge fan u could say), Three 6 Mafia, Lil Jon and all the lil's (theres like 10 of them .. lil wayne pfft etc lol, Ludacris, Master P, T-Pain, TI, Young Buck, Young Jeezy, Chamillionaire, Mike Jones, Ying Yang Twins, Paul Wall.. I guess you can say im not a fan of mainstream or choped n screwed music and im just not the biggest fan of southern hip hop thats all.they have had pretty good guys in the past, 2 Live Crew's, Arrested Development, The Geto Boys & Scarface, DJ Magic Mike!. but in todays rap in the south id like .. Devin The Dude, Outkast, Z-Ro, UGK im a fan of them defently and yeh no disrespect to memhpis, atlanta, etc lol im not hating .. it's just my opinion, it is not near the best right now.
the Q used to be on this site... he got banned or something. For being stupidOH, and East coast rap owns all. New York ftw
Yeah I remember the Q. Didn't he get banned because he constantly just spammed off-topic and never posted basketball stuff? He's got some good music though. Also yeah The bulk of music on my iPod is east coast rap. Overall I probably like Brooklynn rappers the best.

We are a underground rap scene so your hearing the B Grade stuff. Stay Fly, Poppin Colla, Dope Boy Fresh....arent even in top 30 of their best songs(talking about 36). 8Ball/MJG are complete legends and has created some incredible music back in the day. TI is still good, but hes made some good stuff in the past. And thats not mentioning the real artists of the south who have never gone mainstream.(btw, I dont like the Houston rap scene either, except for UGK(really just Pimp C), th whole Swishahouse gets dissed WAY to much in mixtapes). And thats what south rap is all about...mixtapes. 36, they couldve been as famous as this 10 yrs ago, but chose to stay underground. 80% of the time, a hit in Memphis(or ATL, New Orleans) doesn't even have a video cause its stright from a mixtape.I like Rakim though. And Of course Tupac(he IS east coast, just repped West Coast)

K-Rino he's a mad lyricalist can't forget him in southern rap.and I also remember ''The Q'', I can't say he was the best rapper though .. lol.
I like any good hip-hopBoston rap is underrated thoughhttp://thedoctrine.imeem.com/music/OihBhqU9/wishing/
Of course people like east coast rap. Hip hop originated in New York. But yes, today's east coast rappers aren't as dominating as before but there is hope. Papoose, 50 Cent, DMX, and Rakim are all coming out with albums this summer, which should give the east coast a boost. Also, so many legends from New York... The Notorious B.I.G, NaS, Big L, Gang Starr, Wu-Tang Clan, Raekwon (solo) KRS-One, Kool G. Rap, Mobb Deep, Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, Jay-Z, etc... Even 2Pac lived most of his life in New York until he moved to Baltimore and California. I don't think Papoose alone can bring back the east coast but I think this summer the east will be surging through. Papoose is really hyped up in the underground, we know 50 Cent will sell, DMX is probably gonna hit #1 on hip hop charts for the 7th straight time, and Rakim might get gold... Then there's Ja Rule coming out with an album.
New Yorks savior is going to be Saigon. I promise, hes going to go down as a legend.Still like underground south better...yall probably havent even heard souths real sound(NOT crunk..thats from ATL).
