DEN had no problem paying him - more per season that we're paying Nurkic. Yeah, that guy. What the fuck difference does it matter why we traded Plumlee, it was still a great trade. We got a better, younger payer, that we're paying less and have locked up longer - and a 1st round pick. On what planet isn't that a good trade? Did you not notice how our defense went from bottom 5 to top 8 after that trade? Would you prefer we still had Plumlee at $13 million a year, or had let him walk for nothing? If not, stop acting like that wasn't a great fucking trade. BNM
I love how you’re trying to convince me of the Nurkic trade. Go back and check who was advocating the most for that move before it even happened. I don’t need your paragraphs. And since this argument is about Neil not trading players he values, and not whether it was a good trade, I’d say not wanting to pay him means....everything.
I thought he made $24M. CJ is better than Harris, so how is Harris' contract completely fair and CJ's isn't at all?
Say what you want about McGee, but I’d bet he leads the league in alley-oops. Stupid plays as well, but he is going to get a ton of lobs from Ball, Rondo and ‘Bron.
CJ isn’t that much better, there’s an argument that Harris is the better, more efficient shooter. CJ is paid like a superstar, which he isn’t. He makes the same as guys like AD and Giannis, while Harris shares a bracket with guys like Ariza. He’s also like four years younger. Don’t see why Minnesota would prefer CJ.
You have to understand how Harris is a product of playing next to Jokic. Last year was his first year getting over 15ppg, and it was mostly off of getting great shots through the offensive system and Jokic. Dude got so many open layups off of cuts and didn't really work for shots. He's not a guy that can regularly create his own either. Ask GMs across the league and I think most would prefer McCollum. Then again, all were discussing is there being a chance that Thibs would. Also, Butler wants to play next to another seasoned superstar. You can't find that in Denver. You can find that in Portland though. Amd what Butler wants, matters.
At Knicks, Clippers or Nets? Knicks have only Porzingis who is basically equivalent of Jokic in terms of status (maybe a little higher), Clippers' best player is Tobias Harris who they would need to send back to Minnesota to even acquire Butler and Nets' best player is... is that DeMarre Carroll?
The thought is that Kyrie or another star would join him in one of those desinations, since all have the cap space or the ability to get enough cap space to land another star FA.
Yeah I get that, wherever he goes he probably expects Kyrie to team up with him. I don't even think it's Kyrie or another star, I think they've pretty much agreed to play together from next season onwards.
I think Butler would make us better yes. But I also am realistic. Only LBJ could've successfully implemented the gameplan Portland had going into the NoP series. But that's because he's a freak and makes everything look good. NoP series wasn't on CJ, nor was it on Lillard. It was on the ass gameplan. This is coming from someone who's said multiple times. Stotts is the best coach Portland has had since Adelman. Could I have done better at coaching? I doubt it. But I certainly wouldn't have went into the series with the assumption AD is a fake superstar and his conditioning will be exposed. I'm looking to upgrade the roster. But CJ & Lillard are not the problem. So replacing CJ with Butler imo doesn't move the needle. It makes Portland better, but marginally. Butler is > CJ. But it's a marginal improvement when you're relying on Aminu, Harkless, Turner, Davis as 4 key role players. This year it'll be Harkless, Aminu, Turner, Collins as 4 key role players. Unless one shows out, is Portland getting Butler going to change much? I doubt it. The only thing it really allows is Portland to throw a lineup of. Lillard, Curry, Butler, Aminu/Harkless, Nurk/Collins out there. On paper that lineup is better than what Portland had last year simply because Harkless & Aminu aren't both on the court being relied on as shooters
I would do this trade, but frankly I would also want a pick from them. It could be protected. Butler is the better player, but CJ is locked up for another two years after this season. Gibson is expiring after this season, and I like him as a veteran big to replace Ed Davis.
Regardless of if Rasta has it or not, his response is precisely why you don't just ask someone "damn you got dementia or something?" Even if it's a "joke." Pretty terrible.
Man these gm’s love to use woj to try to drive up and down trade values. Since woj moved to ESPN he seems like he’s not quite what he used to be.
