I think someone will make a mistake and overpay for a one-dimentional shooter in Jason Kapono. I don't think he will get Brian Cardinal money but some team will spend too much on him. He's obviously a good shooter regardless, but I think he had money on his mind with his 'break-out' shooting year. I here everyone saying the Nets need to re-sign Mikki Moore, yet another player who had a breakout year coincidently during a contract year. I don't think the Nets would get the same production from him next season...even though he's 31, someone will give him more than he's worth because he's a center. Give me some of yours.
Darko Milicic. He has proven to be a solid backup center, yet he's going to ask for a lot of money. Some stupid Motherf*cker will do it too, much like those who gave Nene a $60M deal. Don't get me wrong, I like Nene and he's a nice young player, but that is an All-Star contract. That also isn't saying that Darko will get a $60M deal, but somebody will overpay him (hopefully it's not Orlando). If he gets any more than $4M a year, he's overpaid.
The second I read the title of this I suddenly thought Jason Kapono. A team that needs shooting will definitely pay him more than he is worth. I hope we can keep him in Miami because he has been great for us but if we have to pay him big money I say we let him go, we already have Eddie Jones and James Posey anyway. A team in need of shooting, like the Nuggets will offer him either a lot of money or the MLE or something when all he really does is shoot. I'd take Eddie Jones over him anyday

I dunno.</div>did you hear that from Bill Walton? because that's the only place I heard it.In any regard, this isn't a contract year for him so we've got another year before he should be discussed in this thread. Two guys who will be overpaid are Matt Barnes and Mickael Pietrus. Somebody's gonna give them 6 mil a year.
I see Luke Walton hauling in a ton of money, and probably more than he deserves. Hes a good solid role player and is still developing but hes nothing special.
Olowokand is a free agent, rumor has it he is drawing big interest with a lot of teams.....I would agree with Mikki More and Matt Barnes. If you're playing good in the playoffs in the NBA, you're almost guaranteed a pricey paycheck in the off-season if you're a free agent. I really don't think Kapono will get a lot of money elsewhere. I bet he'll get signed to a somewhat overpriced deal but I don't think it will be anything excessive. He had a decent regular season but didn't do jack in the playoffs and also everyone knows all the guy can do is shoot 3's.
I think that Jannero Pargo will be one to get overpaid. Sure he came in and did well for the Hornets when Chris Paul and Bobby Jackson both went out during the season. However, I think he liked to shoot a bit to much, and I really only see him as a backup point guard for his career. I think he will get paid starters money when he is not starter material in this league, somewhere this season though by someone that needs a point guard, like the Hawks.
Like I said, I cant stand "contract year" guys. hopefully these guys will be different, but it does seem to me like these guys sorta fit the mold though. I think that Mikki Moore will be the one that will keep playing like he is now. the one that I guarantee that will get money, go to another team, and stink it up will be Matt Barnes.

Still, I would not be surprised. I mean, who would you pay more: Biedrins or Ilgauskas? (He is overpaid, but still. It didn't say players this year :beee: , and I wouldn't care to look it up anyway.
How many times do I have to say this? The average salary in the NBA is over $3,000,000 a year. League minimum is like $400,000 a year. EVERYBODY in the NBA is overpaid. In the NBA, a 20 year old kid with barely a highschool education and no degree can make 100 times as much money as the best and most respected Surgeon in the country. Am I the only person who thinks that is just a little F*cked up?

Would you rather the players get payed 5% and the owners get paid 90%? It's an absurd amount of money, but capitalism is not meritocracy. The more money you can make your boss the more you're likely to make yourself.

RASHARD LEWIS.Cant rebouind worth a sh*t- puts up better numbers this year - oh my god its a contract year- big surprise there. He will be payed bucket loads but he's no more than a servicable number 2 option.

But that isn't what we have unfortunately, and if people are willing to shell out a thousand dollars a game for seats then the players are entitled to their piece of that enormous pie.An interesting factoid I learned recently is that players' salaries are not actually absolute. They adjust it so that the players as a whole make 59% of the league's profits, so if the league suffered in the ratings the players' pay would go way down.
Yeah, a players salary isn't exactly set in stone. It's all relative to the success of the league. That's why in the early 80's, players were making from $160,000 to $250,000 (on the average) a year with a few earning over a million at the high end of the spectrum. Then in the 90's everything blew up.

You might not like the fact they get paid so much but thats what market levels have determined they should get.Sports and the entertainment industry is a difficult one as they provide a service that you can't really measure its importance.
