Thank you for having the courage to share. And I wholeheartedly agree, almost every woman at some time in her life has been the recipient of unwanted physical attention from a male in some way, shape or form. And they either don’t come forward because they are embarrassed or (as we are seeing too damn often, even today) they are not believed. It’s a lose/lose situation. My wife (and many of her female school mates) were molested by one of her Lutheran grade school teachers. It went on for years because no one (parents and school employees) believed the girls over him. Eventually the complaints became such that they felt the need to move the guy to another school rather than confront the problem openly and honestly (apparently the Lutherans are no different than the Catholics). That old pervert is still alive and many of his former coworkers still refuse to believe the guy was a molester, let alone a serial molester, despite the number of former students who have shared their stories. So fucking typical........ And I would be curious just how many males were molested as children. My bet is that our minds would be boggled but that we’ll never know because most guys are too “manly” to admit it. I was molested by a child psychologist when I was 4 or 5 years old. He told me it was to make me “relax” and my parents thought I was making things up. When they were in grade school, my younger brother and a cousin were held at knife point by a teenage boy until they dropped their pants and showed the kid “what they had”. And I could go on and on. This is a sick frickin’ world. This kind of shit happens very minute of every day. And it’s easier for us to pretend it doesn’t happen (or worse, that it’s no big deal). And the current confirmation shit show going on in DC (and the disrespect shown to this brave woman) just cements how bad the problem truly is.......and just how far we still have to go.
Well, it is a sports board my friend. I come here expecting a lot of testosterone tainted comments and let them slide for the most part. I've been pleasantly surprised at how much compassion many of you men have and the depth of your love toward your wives and girlfriends (and other women by default). It warms my heart!
Wow! Thank you for sharing and I agree - no doubt men report molestation and sexual assault even less than women.
It's all good @Lanny. That particular poster's opinions are beyond meaningless to me and I did specifically criticize his post.
