For my money, the best thing she ever did was Funny Girl. I don't think Streisand ever came close to achieving as great of a performance. Part of the reason was William Wyler (who had never even directed a musical before) and another was Omar Sharif as her gambler, top hat dandy husband. It's maybe the thing he ever did. And reminds me of James Mason's turn in the 1954 version Of A Star Is Born. Both men gave the performance of a lifetime.

I will be interested to see how good Bradley Cooper does in this territory in the new version of ASIB.

The new song is just another formula 2000s song. It gets quiet, then loud, then quiet, then loud. No humor, no youthfulness, no playing with us, and most important, no hummable tune. An opaque song with a near-black album cover.

In the 60s, every year produced over a hundred hits with good tunes. #100 was better than #1 of any current year. That's over a thousand good tunes in a decade. They were a dime a dozen, and made about that much money. Here was one lost in that crowd and immediately forgotten.
