Detroit News: Are the Pistons Glory Days Nearly Over?<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>There is a chance the Pistons could also add another veteran to the mix -- Grant Hill. If Hill decides to return for another season or two, he would likely chose between the Pistons, Suns and Magic. And if Hill does return, he would likely take the roster spot of Acker, Murray, Dupree or some combination of those players. But that is highly speculative at this point. Hill said he wanted to take a couple of months to ponder his future.</div> Interesting possibility. If we could sign him with the Vet. Minimum, that would be great.Imagine how deep we would be. The starting 5 McDyessHillMaxiellDelfinoAmirNazr (???)Acie Law/Mike Conley/other PG draft picks
That would be pretty cool to see Grant Hill back in a Pistons uniform. A thread came up a couple months ago about where Hill might go, and I brought up this possibility. Hopefully it comes true, we would be hella deep like Captain said.
IMO you would be virtually unstoppable next year. A guaranteed ECF appearance, and eitheir 1 or 2 seed. He really adds athletisicm and skill off the bench. Not to mention he is a good defender as well.
Grant Hill just needs to retire. I love the guy, he's a class act and I respect his love for the game, but he needs to call it quits. If he does come back, however, yes it would be great to see him back in Detroit. He's one of those guys that you want to see get a ring, but I still think that he needs to call it quits.

He could have been one of the best players of our generation and he was derailed by injuries. He's been pretty much a flop in Orlando. I would love to see him go to Detroit like Webber did and contribute towards a title run.

The guy truly loves the game of basketball, and I stated that in my post above. I also said that he's one of those guys that you really want to see get a ring. But you're right, who am I to tell him that he shouldn't play anymore? But I just don't know how his body will be able to take another year in the league. He can still play, I know that, and Orlando managed him very well this year by sitting him on one of every back-to-back, but I just don't know how he'd hold up going through another year. He's going on 35 years old.

Even if Detroit went on to win a ring I know Hill wouldn't be satisfied because he wouldn't have been a contributor. He is a passionate basketball player, I'd love to see him to go back where he started and finish out his career but he is old and his body is tremendously fragile.
I would love to see Hill finish off his career as a Piston and contribute as a member of the "Bench Brigade". That would mean that Dupree, Blalock and Acker will most likely not be on the roster next season. Even tho Delfino made significant progress this past season, the way he is playing in the playoffs is still inconsistent. If we could trade Nazr and possibly Delfino and in return get Hill and Morris Peterson our bench next season would look like 04 maybe even better. It's only the semi's and only game 3 on Thursday so I say we wait to talk about the off-season till it's officially over. HoLLa baCk
I really disagree with the retirement thing. I don't think it has anything to do with getting a ring, either. I think he would still be a very valuable player next year. You might need to rest him frequently, but you would not regret it come playoff time.
Hill can be quite effective as a player still, he still gets to the basket at easy when he is really focused and it just goes to show how gifted he is/was. so if your questioning wether he is too old to contribute then your wrong.I saw him play detriot at the end of the reg. season and he had like 20 somthing points at the half, played great and I would be even better if he was playing like that with the detriot pistons and I think he can come next season, id love for it to happen.edit- sorry bout grammar, im tired.
Pretty solid move if Detroit can land him. He'll come cheap and despite what CB said, he can still contribute. And in a situation in Detroit where he won't be relied as much as he was mentally and physically in Orlando. He'll only bring a positive impact. Grant Hill can just go out there and play, not worrying about getting hurt. Pistons won't be in dire need if he goes down. Plus the added bonus of not having to play Hill major minutes will keep Hill fresh but also lower the risk of injury.

I wish him the best no matter what his decision ends up being, though. He's one of my favorite *people* as far as NBA players are concerned.

Especially if the situation calls for a lighter season in terms of minutes and wear/tear.
Grant Hill can still play at a high level, and I truely believe he can play another full season or two. He is still pretty athletic, can get up and jump decently for someone his age and with ankle problems. He is fast in the open court, and can get up and down court. His body can more than take another year or two in the NBA.If he did go, that would be a major pickup for the Pistons, having him as a presence off the bench. A good scorer, he attacks the rim well, and has a nice mid range shot and game. When Billups isn't in the game next year, he can act as another ball-handler on the court, as well as a playmaker. Hill is an outstanding passer, a smart player, and someone that can really help this team with his play. He would really cement this bench, with Maxiel, Mcdyess, and Delfino coming off the bench also.

We've been bad to Dupree as a team just like we were to Mohammed this year.when he first came in with us we didnt use him,we traded him, then now we gave him a deal. this guy deserves to play more hes a good defender. I'd like to see Hill in a Pistons uni again, but I think his skills are deminishing now. He could be a good guy coming off the bench, but the Pistons have a lot of guys developing and getting better than he is. so I wouldnt mind getting him, but we dont need him.Guys who could be in front of him on the bench are...Delfino,Maxiell,Johnson,plus whoever we draft. I think the Pistons would be deeper with him, but not any better because they are already the deepest team in the league now without even playing a few guys that could make us better.
