http://larrybrownsports.com/basketball/timberwolves-owner-jimmy-butler-available-for-trade/464898 check out woj's tweet in middle of article about taylor's message about butler's availability to other team owners at the nba board of governors meeting. sounds like he is willing to go over managements' heads
He hasn't been traded YET, but he will be, because that's what the owner wants and he's the one signing the checks. No, he's not available because he demanded a trade, he's available because the owner wants him traded. If Thibs was calling the shots, or if the owner and Thibs were on the same page, they'd be doing everything possible to placate Jimmy and make him happy in MIN, but they aren't, they are shopping Jimmy for the best offer. If Thibs was calling the shots, he would be entertaining offers for Andrew Wiggins, not Jimmy Butler. BNM
By definition, he IS over managements' heads. He's the one that hires and fires them and signs their paychecks. Any delusions that Taylor is not the one calling the shots is ludicrous. BNM
Why does the owner want him traded? Oh yeah because Butler wants out. Any other brain busters? heres the most likely scenario, based on all the info reported Butler asked for a trade Owner wants to move him instead losing of him for nothing Told Thibs to find the best deal Thibs hasn’t found one, whether it’s genuine or whether he’s stalling, who knows, but he’s still the one in charge. He knows the league better than Taylor, and a good leader let’s his people do their jobs.
I think this happens: SAC Gets: Tyler Johnson, 2019 MIA 1st MIN Gets: Josh Richardson, Bam Adebeyo, Kosta Kofous MIA Gets: Jimmy Butler, Gorgui Dieng,
You keep insisting that Thibodeau is in charge, yet in the days after Butler's trade demand, Thibs kept insisting that Butler was not available: https://clutchpoints.com/timberwolves-news-tom-thibodeau-holding-firm-in-not-trading-jimmy-butler/ Yet, Butler is available. Why, because Taylor stepped in and told other GM's to call him directly: https://clutchpoints.com/timberwolv...my-butler-is-available-teams-should-call-him/ Still sound like your boy Thibs is the one calling the shots? BNM
So, you actually think Taylor is dumb enough to take that shitty offer? I sure as fuck wouldn't. It said Minnesota pushed for more - no mention if it was Thibs or Taylor doing the pushing. BNM
Not necessarily... those things don't correlate. Their doesn't seem to be much of a market for him. Reports are that Minnesota is pushing Miami to send them Richardson, Adebeyo, and a 1st. That just shows how little they're actually getting offered.
Hmm let’s see I wonder who knows the league better, the owner or the president of basketball ops? (That’s rhetorical)
Turns out Thibs, the overrated coach, is a REALLY shitty GM. He drove down Butler's trade value and now all he's getting are low ball offers than the owner rightfully rejects. They'll end up getting pennies on the dollar for Butler. Rather than pout and refuse to take calls, the minute he left that meeting with Butler, he should have told all the other GMs "Jimmy is available give us you best offers". Instead, he spent days in denial, refusing to take any calls about Butler, with Butler losing trade value each and every day, until Taylor stepped in and said if he won't talk to you, call me directly" “The owner’s trading him,” one Board of Governors attendee told ESPN on Friday. “That was made clear. It’s just a matter of when.” BNM
You're acting like that matters here... it doesn't. You might know your job better than your boss, but if your boss insists on things being done a certain way, your "knowledge" doesn't matter.
It's also totally irrelevant. The owner wants him gone, the president of ops doesn't. He WILL be traded, in spite of Thibs undermining his owner. "Taylor and Thibodeau’s relationship is not good right now. Taylor has “significant concern” over the culture created under Thibodeau and general manager Scott Layden, according to a report from ESPN reporter Adrian Wojnarowski. Taylor’s concerns run so deep that he reportedly contemplated making organizational changes during the offseason and has second guessed his decision to grant Thibodeau the authority to control basketball operations, along with being the head coach." It's sounding more and more like Thibs actually wants to get fired rather than try to clean up the mess he's created. BNM
There’s nothing that actually suggests Thibs isn’t in charge, which is my point. The only retort is some report that doesn’t line up with what has (or hasn’t) happened since. My argument isn’t that Taylor didn’t tell Thibs to find a deal, I’m sure he did. My argument is Thibs will decide which package Minnesota will ultimately accept, if they do actually trade him.
Another thing, if Taylor actually iced out Thibs, why hasn’t he quit (or been fired) yet?? If he doesn’t trust him to do his job what the fuck is the point?
You don't think the owner has veto power over any trade? If Thibs brings him a shit offer, you don't think the owner can, and will say no? BNM
He won't quit because he'd walk away from the remaining $24 million left on his 5 year, $40 million contract. Taylor hasn't fired him yet, because he doesn't want to pay him $24 million to sit at home and do nothing. BNM
