You apparently didn't read the links I posted above. Yes, there are published reports that Thib's isn't in charge. In the days following his meeting with Butler, Thibs insisted Butler was not available and refused to field calls from other GMs. If Thibs was the one calling the shots, it would have ended right there. But he's not. His owner stepped in and forced his hand, because the owner is the one in charge. BNM
Ownership vetoes usually only happen when the owner doesn’t want to trade a specific player, not vice versa.
Taylor told Thibs to find a deal. That’s it. He didn’t tell Thibs to step aside and let him handle it, which is essentially what you’re trying to convince me of.
According to what? Ownership vetoes happen regardless. Why could ownership veto because the don't "want to trade a specific player" for a specific package?
I think I heard from Woj or somebody that the owner said direct all offers to me. This was a week or two ago.
Here it is Scalma: https://thecomeback.com/nba/timberwolves-owner-glen-taylor-jimmy-butler-deals.html
Don't bother Eric, some people aren't interested in facts that contract their narrative. I posted a link earlier to another article that quoted the exact same Woj tweet, but it was ignored. BNM
Read the article I linked and the tweet from Woj. It says specifically that Taylor told other front offices to contact him directly. BNM
You left out a major part to this whole thing, and really why the owner wants him gone. Karl Anthony Towns hates Jimmy Butler. He said he would not sign an extension if Butler was going to be part of the team. The owner clearly assured him that Butler would be gone because he signed his extension.
They are TRYING to drive a hard bargain, but they have ZERO leverage. He wants out, his younger teammates, both Towns and Wiggins, HATE him and the owner has said TRADE HIM. Can you imagine that locker room if they don't trade him. What a shit show Thibs has orchestrated in MIN. Couldn't manage the roster he assembled and now can't traded the guy who needs to go. Overrated coach, shitty GM. They can keep asking for the moon, but they aren't going to get it. MIA's offer (as reported) was a flaming pile of shit, but that's what they are looking at getting for a disgruntled player who is a potential 1-year rental/flight risk. BNM
Taylor hasn't stepped in and a sealed the deal, because the offers they have received are shit - which is to be expected given the situation - disgruntled player who is absolutely hated by his younger max contract teammates, who has demanded a trade and is a potential 1-year rental. They are still trying to get something that approaches equal value for Butler. They are delusional. The best part is, the longer this draws out, the less of a risk they become to challenge for a playoff spot in the Western Conference. It's already a huge distraction, and will only get bigger until Butler is gone (or worse, if he actually joins the team). Terrible roster management by Tom Thibodeau. He should have stuck to being an overrated coach and never insisted on also making the roster decisions. He brought in "his guy" who had clashed with his younger teammates in CHI to join a roster full of young players. Is anyone surprised it blew up in his face? BNM
I actually think its hilarious how many of ‘his guys’ he’s brought in and he still cant keep the locker room together. Its entertaining to watch this from afar.
