This guy gets more credit for a tool that has won, one title with an absurd payroll in his time as a GM. He held onto all his hitting prospects, unwilling to use them to get an ace. Well, guess what Brian. Your pitching fn blows. Have to wonder if they made a Torres for a deGrom deal where they would be. That would be up 2 games to 1. People make it seem like this tool drafted Judge originally. He didn't. Oakland did. All this bullpen crap is exactly that. Crap. You don't win without good starting pitching. It's hard to win without a legit ace. Severino is a headcase. He's a number 3 at best. You never know what you will get. You hear Yanks fans talking about getting Corbin. He's not an fn ace. His career stats in the N.L. without the DH pretty much are below average. Now this buffoon has to try and get an ace in the off-season and the price will be even higher because teams know his rotation is crap.
George Steinbrenner must have entered his mellowing out period in 2004. After that lost to Boston I thought Cashman and Torre would be gone. Did not happen. Unfortunately the only player who can remove the Cashman game piece from the organization are the Steinbrenner Tadpoles and that is likely looking not to happen. I pretty much quit watching MLB & ESPN "Experts" praise Cashman to the skies, none of them have the nads to call a spade a spade.
100% spot on. Cashman got full control from the Steinbrenners in getting rid of Girardi who didn't fall for all Cashman's bullshit. Not that Girardi was flawless but he had a strong personality that demanded respect...he wasn't a puppet like we have now. Cashman is manager and GM without having to answer for teams everyday performance. He has no skin in the game as many top execs in todays business world. Team wins..."how awesome that Cashman got this guy or that guy"- they lose "the manager sucks, team is mismanaged" All we ever hear is how great Cashman is by all the sheep in the media. From day one in spring training, this team lacked solid starting pitching but the media didn't speak about it. The deadline brought another reliever and a 35 year old cast off starter who was to be the savior. Sad part is that Happ looked scared to pitch in Game 1 pressure as sure as Severino was scared last night (no emotion-hit hard every AB). Yankee starters know they aren't trusted in the Trashman's bullpen scheme. How can you be confident to pitch ? This new wave of baseball execs are all about trying to reinvent the wheel ...new metrics they ascribe to are horseshit but are thrown around to make them seem smarter than the other GM. The "smartest guy in the room" always gets kicked in the teeth when tried and true measures come back to bite them...like starting pitching winning games. Cashman, his friend Billy Beane and other young GM's are only looking to support their own images and are an embarrassment. What has that clown Beane ever won ? All this data manipulation is pure crap, pushed on ownership and fans for a self promoting agenda. Baseball people with a true feel for the game win championships...not pencil pushing assclowns.
I don't know how many others on this board have noticed when watching Yankee/Sox Games Dombrowski is always there, watching, taking note, plotting future moves. I've yet to see Cashman doing the same. Girardi is probably laughing his ass off right now and deservedly so. Had Jeter bought into partnership with the Yankees I truly believed that Cashman would have been out the door.
We all would have loved to seen deGrom in Yankee pinstripes. Problem was Trashman does not know how to make a deal, AND the Mets wanted considerably much more than Torres, i.e. Andujar, Sheffield and Frazier. All of this is hypothetical since neither team approached the other. It was highly unlikely the Mets would have traded to their Crosstown rivals. The aforementioned Yankees would have been good trade bait for a deGrom / Syndergaard trade. I would have hated to seeing Andujar go though, unless the Yankees would have picked up Machado to replace Andujar. Of course then they would have had to of met his (Machado) demands as a free agent... Again all of this is hypothetical because Trashman could not, and cannot pull off a deal on his own. Other teams dictate to him who he can have.... I do not know what King George saw in Trashman, and he should have been fired after the 2004 season... As YankeeFan5545 stated-the kids are incompetent totally fckng incompetent...
Boston shows you the big problem with this Yankee lineup. The Red Sox can hit for power but will also take a lot of walks and spray the ball all over the field. The Yankee batters outside of say Gardner all go up there trying to hit 500ft Homer's.
