    MR means mentally retarded.

Not the most "PC" term nowadays.

I'm sorry but this is bullshit.
    I'm unwatching this thread.
    Literally pissed me off.

All people need to stop looking for ways to do shit like this.

You poll anyone and 99% of them will say the MR abbreviation comes before someones last name.
I gave specific context and a fucking meme account tried to take it out of context.

    Fuck that.
All of you people who think this way can kick rocks.
Why I ever shared a personal story.
    Fuck that.

I also have only known M R as an insult about someone’s intelligence and it’s been used solely that way for at least 6 decades. I can’t imagine anyone thinking they could use it for anything else without offending the target person.

Turn in a child abuser and get called a MR? No thanks.

Learned something new. I guess I'm too young to have ever heard that abbreviation used in that way. I think at this point, that meaning has basically gone the way of the dodo.

I knew what a mandatory reporter was but had never seen it abbreviated...

So, I thought I'd ask my wifeperson what she thought MR stood for. She had no clue. I gave her like 10,000 guesses but she never even came close...

THEN I asked my incredibly politically active and intelligent (graduating a year early, for example) daughter: what does MR stand for to you? No clue. Then I tell her and she's like I know all about mandatory reporters, weirdo. Why are you abbreviating it like that? We just call them mandatory reporters. I say of course, sorry to bother you...

So don't feel bad, my people, it's not quite as universal as some would have you believe.

Look, I'm completely willing to be wrong about my assumption.

I literally thought that's what you meant.

To avoid a conflict? Yes. Who wouldn't? (This guy obviously) Why toss fuel on a fire?

Things will never change if someone doesn't take the higher road. Personally I don't have faith in people like her learning from this or taking the higher road, so the only alternative is for the victim to take the high road.

I never said he owed her. IM simply saying, to avoid a conflict he could have had a better reaction. Not saying he is wrong in his reaction, simply saying if we want to put a stop to this, someone has to step up right?

Ive learned when it actually get serious like that, you kill them with kindness. Then they have no ground to stand on. you fight fire with fire regarding racial tension and all it will create is more racial tension.

oh and btw... check out your Renee thread. LMAO!

I get what you're saying, and in certain situations I totally agree; I'm often a highroad guy (outside of S2 that is!). Except for this case, and ones like this one, I believe kind of the opposite. If you don't tell people like her to fuck off, then they'll just keep doing the same things. If I was there as one of the witnesses, I'd have likely said something to her myself. You're correcting a wrong. Otherwise, she'll never learn.

While killing them with kindness works sometimes, what about the cases where someone makes up something to tell the police and they are believed? I'm not sure if it was on this board or not but I read a story about a black man standing next to a white woman on a subway train and the lady yelling at him to stop touching her even though he wasn't. He held his hands up in the air trying to show people that he wasn't doing anything wrong but was fearful that this lady would make something up and he'd be arrested simply because he was black. The guy literally went out of his way to be nice and show that he wasn't doing anything wrong and was still fearful of what this lady could do to her since the police would likely believe her story of the event.

Going back to my earlier example, what if he was their Dad and had to face bullshit like that every time he left the house. Simply being kind would get old real fast, wouldn't it?

I dont have faith she will learn either way, but I get your point.

Good point about being the father. That would indeed get old quick.

A person will learn and change if they want to. However, nobody else will be able to do it for them.

Treating a person with kindness will probably result in a better reaction than telling them to "fuck off." Some people are looking for that animosity all the time. Don't feed it.

If someone asked me what the initials MR stand for, honestly, I wouldn't think of mentally retarded OR mandatory reporter.

I don't know if I could come up with anything.
