<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Colangelo acknowledged that players would feel more comfortable making the commitment to their national teams if their NBA clubs were behind them. He is awaiting word back on an invitation extended to Memphis forward Mike Miller, who Colangelo said, "just wants to make sure that everyone is supportive."</div>I saw this coming after this season. The US team wants versitle, team players. Mike Miller is both, being a leader and being able to play PG-SG-SF. I really dont want him to play though. As seen in this season, this can really wear a player out. Not to mention he played a ton of minutes this season at like 40mpg. I dont know, he probably wont play that much, but just be a off-the-bench guy. But he also would probably play better in Euro ball anways. It would be cool to have him there, but Griz fans obviously dont like the whole International ball thing, for obvious reasons...
Interesting, I can see why team USA would be interested in him. But like you said, the Grizzlies need him to rest. Plus he needs to be healthy for next season because depending on who you guys draft you guys could be serious contenders in the West.
I can definately understand why the Grizzlies fans and why the organization would be a bit hesitant to want their players to play in international play, after what happened to Pau Gasol last year. If Dwight Howard had gotten hurt, I wouldn't like Orlando Magic players playing in it either. As for Miller though, I would like what he could bring to team USA. A guy that moves well without the ball, hits the open shots, doesn't need the ball to be effective. That is the type of players that team USA needs, and I would like if he was one of them. Defensively, he will try, and not be caught out of position to much. I'm a big fan of his, got to see him for the Gators, Magic, and I like what I see from him in Memphis.
Also a tremendous three point shooter. Something that is vital to success when playing the run and gun, 3-point shot infested, European style of basketball.
