LSU downs No. 2 Georgia, gives Ed Orgeron signature win

Joe Burrow passed for 200 yards and had two short touchdown runs, LSU's defense staggered Georgia's normally prolific offense, and the 13th-ranked Tigers beat the No. 2 Bulldogs 36-16 on Saturday to give coach Ed Orgeron a signature victory.

No. 14 Florida rallies from 18 down to beat Vanderbilt 37-27

Dan Mullen prefers not to talk about what prompted his 14th-ranked Florida Gators and the Vanderbilt Commodores to spill off the sidelines.

Derek Mason says a Florida player said something to the Vanderbilt coach.

In the end, the Gators' big comeback overshadowed the near brawl in which both head coaches yelled at each other.

Jordan Scarlett ran 48 yards for the go-ahead touchdown on the first play of the fourth quarter, and No. 14 Florida rallied from an 18-point deficit to beat Vanderbilt 37-27 on Saturday to match the largest road comeback in school history.

Missouri bounces back to throttle Memphis 65-33

Defense came at a premium in Missouri's homecoming game against Memphis. The teams combined for 68 points in the first half, and continued to keep the scoreboard operator busy in the second.

When it was all said and done, Missouri rolled over Memphis. Drew Lock threw for 350 yards and four touchdowns on 23-for-29 passing, and Missouri defeated Memphis 65-33 in its homecoming game on Saturday.

Noland, Arkansas defense lead Arkansas past Tulsa, 23-0

When Arkansas freshman quarterback Connor Noland trotted off the field after throwing an interception on the first drive, Razorbacks coach Chad Morris didn't have to say much to make sure his first-time starter stayed confident.

This was the moment kids across Arkansas (2-6) dream of, especially ones like Noland -- an Arkansas native and fan his entire life.

Morris stuck with his quarterback, and the move paid off in a 23-0 victory over Tulsa on Saturday.

Snell's late TD helps No. 14 Kentucky escape Vanderbilt 14-7

Kentucky's hope of winning with style coming out of an off week quickly evolved into doing whatever it could to get past Vanderbilt.

The No. 14 Wildcats eventually succeeded behind the reliable combination of running back Benny Snell Jr. and a fierce defense that wouldn't break.

Snell rushed for 169 yards, including the go-ahead 7-yard run with 8:04 remaining that helped Kentucky pull away for a 14-7 victory over Vanderbilt on Saturday night.

Defense leads No. 5 LSU past No. 22 MSU, 19-3

Boos rained down from the Tiger Stadium stands, even as quarterback Joe Burrow kneeled to close out No. 5 LSU's latest convincing victory over a ranked opponent.

It was an unusual scene spawned by an unfortunate play that could carry considerable implications going forward.

Michael Divinity Jr.'s interception set up Nick Brossette's short touchdown run, Cole Tracy kicked four field goals, and LSU beat No. 22 Mississippi State 19-3 on Saturday night. But the Death Valley crowd left angry after LSU's top linebacker, Devin White, was ejected for targeting in the fourth quarter, meaning he will not be eligible to play in the first half of the Tigers' upcoming showdown with unbeaten and top-ranked Alabama.

Vaughn's 3 touchdowns spark Vandy past Arkansas, 45-31

Vanderbilt coach Derek Mason had some fun this week at the expense of running back Ke'Shawn Vaughn, jokingly calling the junior "fat man" as he returned to practice after missing 10 days with an injury.

Mason might want to consider poking his bear of a running back more in the future after his performance on Saturday.

Led by a refreshed Vaughn, the Commodores earned their first Southeastern Conference victory of the season with a 45-31 win over Arkansas. The 5-foot-10, 222-pound Vaughn did much of the damage, rushing 26 times for 172 yards and three touchdowns in leading Vanderbilt (4-5, 1-4) to its first SEC win since a victory over Tennessee to end last season.

No. 12 Kentucky scores on last play, beats Missouri 15-14

Kentucky's offense didn't score a touchdown in the first 60 minutes against Missouri. But after the Tigers were called for pass interference in the end zone on what would have been the final play, the 12th-ranked Wildcats got one last chance from the 2 with no time left on the clock.

"I felt like I was going to have a heart attack," Kentucky coach Mark Stoops said.

He felt better after Terry Wilson completed a touchdown pass to tight end C.J. Conrad to give the Wildcats a 15-14 victory Saturday night.

Mississippi State upsets No. 16 Texas A&M, 28-13

One week after arguably the worst game of his college career, Nick Fitzgerald made throws that had a little extra zip to them. The decisions were a little quicker. The running had more purpose.

In short, Mississippi State's quarterback had his mojo back.

And the Bulldogs responded with an impressive upset win.

Fitzgerald threw for 241 yards and two touchdowns and ran for two more scores to lead the Bulldogs over No. 16 Texas A&M 28-13 on Saturday night.

South Carolina rallies from 12 down to beat Vols 27-24

Jake Bentley lay on the field after a hard hit on his game-tying two-point conversion in the second half.

Despite feeling like he "got hit by a boulder" and taking a few moments to recover, Bentley knew he wasn't done -- and neither was South Carolina.

Bentley threw for 152 yards and a touchdown and the Gamecocks stopped Tennessee on downs twice in the final quarter to rally from 12-points down to beat the Vols 27-24 on Saturday.

Ole Miss can't keep up in shootout vs. South Carolina, loses 48-44

When you score 44 points and gain 616 yardsin an SEC game, you usually win. Ole Miss didn't on Saturday.

Though the Rebels offense was characteristically dominant on Saturday, with running back Scottie Phillips scoring three touchdowns and quarterback Jordan Ta'amu throwing for nearly 400 yards, the defense couldn't back it up en route to a 48-44 loss versus South Carolina. With the loss, Ole Miss drops to 5-4 on the year and 1-4 in SEC pl

Lock burns No. 13 Florida again, Mizzou wins 38-17 in Swamp

Florida's lone bright spot after another lopsided loss to Missouri: It won't have to face Drew Lock again.

Lock picked apart Florida's defense for the second straight year, throwing three touchdown passes to lead the Tigers to a 38-17 victory against the 13th-ranked Gators on Saturday

No. 6 Georgia tops No. 11 Kentucky 34-17 to clinch SEC East

Georgia believed it had a point to prove.

Bulldogs running backs D'Andre Swift and Elijah Holyfield spent all week hearing about the rushing prowess of Kentucky's Benny Snell Jr. Georgia's defensive players kept fielding questions about their inability to stop the run or rush the passer consistently.

They responded Saturday with a performance that convincingly showed Georgia remains the class of the Southeastern Conference Eastern Division. Swift ran for a career-high 156 yards and two touchdowns as the sixth-ranked Bulldogs defeated No. 11 Kentucky 34-17 to clinch the SEC East title.
