I appreciate the efforts of these two Oregonians in the fight against opioid's. My family has been hurt by this epidemic as many others have too.

Yeah its terrible to see family and/or friends struggling with it.
You'd think with all the technology, and all the enforcement we have, we'd be able to get control of most of it by now.
However, I know when people suffer with much pain its easy to except as relief.

When I had my cancer surgery the sent me home with oxi cotton or something like that but I wouldn't take them for fear of addiction so I called the doc and he gave me tylenol 3 I think, which i didn't really need after a day or so.
Im very pleased the doc's and pharmacies are be more careful now and that the Fed is addressing.

They use to give me that kind of stuff all the time since I've had about two dozen surgeries and numerous visits to the ER, perhaps 15 or20 ER visits. Luckily, that stuff makes me nauseous enough to regurgitate and they've got me marked down as being allergic to it.

I did have Fentanyl once when I had arm surgery. Worked like a charm. First time in about four previous arm operations that I had no extreme difficulty tolerating the operation. They make me stay awake for most of my operations. One time, they were doing ablation on my heart while I was awake enough to know and feel everything but couldn't move at all or grunt to let them know that it hurt like hell. Another time they botched an eye operation which left me blind in the left eye. I was awake for that one but couldn't move or even grunt to let them know that again I was in hell. I say, thank God for Fentanyl which I have no desire to ever take again due to any addictive side effect but I'll really lobby for if I have another eye, arm or heart operation.

Can't take aspirin, advil, or most opioids, only Tylenol and Fentanyl.

I peg the odds of me getting hooked on Fentanyl at zero. Happy if I never have to see it again.

With family and clients working in hospitals all of my life, I too appreciate their efforts as the ravages of opioid's is devastating. Love him or hate him, this didn't get much traction until Trump got behind it and made it a more public issue. I can appreciate that it now has a voice.

It remains our generation’s moral imperative to take responsibility and help our children manage the many issues they are facing today, including encouraging positive social, emotional, and physical habits...

    Melania Trump

First Lady of the United States

The mission of BE BEST is to focus on some of the major issues facing children today, with the goal of encouraging children to BE BEST in their individual paths, while also teaching them the importance of social, emotional, and physical health. BE BEST will concentrate on three main pillars: well-being, social media use, and opioid abuse.

BE BEST will champion the many successful well-being programs that provide children with the tools and skills required for emotional, social, and physical health. The campaign will also promote established organizations, programs, and people who are helping children overcome some of the issues they face growing up in the modern world.

Florida sues Walgreens, CVS in connection with opioid crisis
By Robert Gearty | Fox News
Florida filed a lawsuit against Walgreens and CVS on Friday for allegedly adding to the state and national opioid crisis.

Attorney General Pam Bondi announced late Friday that she has added the nation's two largest drugstore chains to a state-court lawsuit filed last spring against Purdue Pharma, the maker of OxyContin, and several opioid distributors.

“We will continue to pursue those companies that played a role in creating the opioid crisis,” said Attorney General Bondi. “Thousands of Floridians have suffered as a result of the actions of the defendants.”

The amended complaint alleges that Walgreens and CVS were two of the largest opioid distributors in Florida and failed in their duties under Florida law to stop suspicious orders of opioids they received, according to Bondi. The amended complaint also alleges that Walgreens and CVS dispensed unreasonable quantities of opioids from their pharmacies.

Walgreens distributed 2.2 million opioid tablets from its store in Hudson, a Tampa-area town of 12,000, and in one unidentified town of 3,000, sold 285,000 pills in a month, the lawsuit says. In some stores, its opioid sales jumped six-fold in two years. The company paid $80 million five years ago to resolve a federal investigation that centered on inadequate record keeping of its Florida opioid sales that allowed the pills to reach the black market.

Florida's accusations against CVS were more general, saying it sold 700 million opioid dosages between 2006 and 2014, including outsized sales in Hudson and two other nearby towns.

CVS did not immediately respond Saturday to emails seeking comment, the Associated Press reported. Walgreens did not immediately respond to a phone message and emails. Both companies on their websites say they are committed to fighting opioid abuse.
