Lol. When something turns out right he’s lucky and when it doesn’t he sucks. God id hate to be a GM in Portland.

Yeah. Being coach or GM of any club in this town is almost a no win situation. Portland fans demand a higher level of competancy sinve they are so hardcore. But if you win big you will be worshipped like no other.

You have to win a title or people think you’re clueless and they could do better. That much I know.

The offense is rolling right now and it seems like there are more options than last year. However, the defense looks worse than last year and at some point, when the Blazers play a better team, their defense is going to need to step up. The Spurs are at least a solid team but a shell of what they used to be. Even with the Spurs, the combined record of the Blazers opponents so far is 6-11. They really should be 4-0 and wins are wins but the sieve-like nature of their defense needs to improve.

Yeah. I've never really understood it. It's funny, because growing up it didn't really seem that way. When I was young the Ducks weren't that good. The Beavers sure as hell weren't. And the only championship was the '77 one. It might have to do with the fact that since there aren't that many teams here, people tend to hyper focus on the Blazers.

By contrast, I lived in the Bay Area in college and both the Niners and Raiders sucked. And literally nobody gave a shit.

Nobody plays defense anymore. Scoring is up everywhere. I think there are two teams, in the entire league, allowing less than 100 points a game. Not saying Portland couldn’t do better, but I’m not expecting a leap.

    It's still way too early.

The Spurs are last in D and the Nuggets are 2nd. Hell, going into tonight we were 1.5 points better than league average on D. ( last year we were 2.2)

Points are certainly up across the board, but there are defensive fundamentals that are noticeably lacking. Our closeouts are terrible. We go over the screen on poor shooters and there are a lot of unimpeded straight line drives to the hoop.

Hopefully the D gets a little more stingy along the way because even with scores up, I doubt the ability to put up 120+ on a nightly basis.

Or maybe, make it out of the 1st round when you have the 2nd best backcourt in the league... I dunno.

    Fun Facts:
    If the playoffs started today.....
We're top 4 in West by record.
    We're top 4 in West by +/-.... by a lot: We're +8.8, next highest is +2.0

Yes, it's a ridiculously small sample size, nothing to get too excited about. But, that's not what
the masses would be saying if we were 0-4, a la Choke-KC.

For the last several seasons, they have been either first or second in blown 4th quarter leads (gee, I wonder why...). Durant's last year in OKC, they won 55 games, but lost 15 games they led in the 4th quarter. They had the talent to win 70 games, just not the brains to do so.

The one shot Turner missed tonight was goaltending because the ball hit the backboard before being blocked so he should've been 5/5.

Yes, there is certainly no shortage of arm chair GMs with 20:20 hindsight.

As the best passer in this forum, I agree that true PG's can play with anyone.

I wish I was 15 years younger. We would've had some fun battles back when I actually had some explosiveness off the dribble.

I have to give Bones credit, he really has a nice all-around game. The part I was most impressed with is his effort on defense.
