I lean moderate conservative but have voted of late libertarian. Im tired of the dem's thinking their way of thinking is the only way and if you don't swallow it hook line and sinker they will put you down, like is done in here by many. Im against all hate right and left. I am also a capitalist as I still believe in the American dream and the ability for you and I, to have achieved, some prosperity form free/or mix enterprse markets. Im tired of conservatives being so set in their ways that compromise is almost impossible. I believe that compromise is possible. I am also for a strong immigration policy that makes since and is manageable. Im not for allowing caravans of others to just push their way into our country. I wouldn't allow anyone I didn't know push their way into my home. Now if you asked me for help and to possibly assist I'm always open for that, but i need to manage with caution for safety sake. I don't think all these in the caravan are really refugees ,but ones that want to experience our American ways, which is great, but come legally or go to POI for asylum. If all the people in Central & south America just decided to go north push their way in our country w/o regards to our laws or custom of obeying the law we lose total control. Because I have feeling like I have shared, I get attacked for it by liberals who just accuses me of being a conservation wasp, which in their mind is a bad thing. Im as moderate as a guy can get for the most part. I have respect for those that have different beliefs and don't attack them, because I would be wrong too. It would be cool as long as we are all civil and work for what makes for good decent community. You've heard me say many times that those that preach tolerance are the least tolerant of all it seems. All parties should preach ,We The People need to come together, even with our differences, and get back to what made this country great. Id love to see a Joe Liberman or John Kaisch, Gary Johnson, or someone thats not to polarized, run in 2020 and win.
That's a lot to read all in one setting and still remember all the details to comment on so let's start with one thing, the 'caravan'. I think the so called 'caravan' is simply a way of surviving the long journey, mostly by foot, across the length of Mexico. It provides some type of security from bandits and other bad guys. Once it arrives at the U.S./Mexico border, the immigration service will take over and only allow temporary entry to those arriving at proper entry points and after applying for legal immigration status. Some will be allowed entry on a provisional basis pending adjudication and others will have to remain in temporary facilities, again, until the adjudication process is completed one way or another. I'm against shooting them dead at the border or shipping Millions of them in box cars back to Mexico. Here's why I support the Democrats. I support them because due to the current Republican Party's unwillingness to stand up to Trump on anything, the Democrats are the only thing separating us from disaster at this time. I would never attack you because in spite of our differences because you are undeniably a very very good person. How anyone could question that is beyond me. Besides, we ought to attack the post and never the poster. I urge anyone catching me making that error, and I'm sure I've made that error conscientiously from time to time, point it out. I'd urge you to point it out in my post and not my character. My character is flawed and I know it. I work hard every single day to recognize my flaws and try to correct them. Some flaws are so deeply ingrained, such as subconscious prejudice against minorities that I know full well I'll be spending the rest of my life trying to root them out. I go to church and pray fervently to help me to be a better person. Wow, more than you wanted to read about that. Sorry. I can't go Joe Lieberman because he supported Bush. Bush, although a good person, was over his head as President. Can't go Gary Johnson because, again, he's just not that bright. I want someone who's fiscally conservative and all for social justice such as treating minorities and women equal to everyone else. Let's include transgenders and homosexuals. I want someone who's going to work for education such that everyone gets a fair and square shot at the American Dream. This means supporting excellence in our public schools. I want healthcare for everyone here. EVERYONE. I don't want to hear how it's too expensive. Tell that to some poor family with a loved one going through agony because they can't afford to see a doctor when they're in pain. I want everyone who wants to work to have a job. This means low paying jobs in government service for anyone willing to show up for work. I want to breath clean air and drink clean water and I don't want contributing to sea level rise, gigantic masses of ocean garbage, the death of coral reefs, increasing heat waves, places of increasing drought, hurricanes and typhoons that constantly break records, forest fires that break records, disappearing species at an alarming rate, starvation beyond our worst fears, stupid wars, etc. These wants are all the result of my moral learnings and acceptance from church and my parents and I try to socialize with people who follow a similar morality.
Lanny, I wasn't calling you out on attacking me, Im sorry if you took it that way. We think much the same way about politics and social issues with a few exceptions which is great! Im thankful that our Gov has 3 branches so to keep each other in check. Genius! And, that people here can vote freely. I thought Kasich was a Bush supporter too? I like that Joe has tasted both parties and now as an Independent could be able to compromise when needed for the sake of the people. I also, think Kaisch can do that as well. But there are to many staunch republicans and democrats that won't give an inch for the good of the people. A great leader has the ability to bring people together for a common cause and still stay within the framework of our constitution and We The People. The 2 candidates that America had to choose from are imo, the bottom of the barrel in terms of leadership capability and integrity. Both as Power hungry as you could get at any cost.
