There is no reason why Collins can't play power forward. If Aldridge can play PF, and Dirk can play PF and Kevin Garnett can play PF, then Collins can play PF.

I think the question is whether Collins, at this stage of his career, is as comfortable in the PF role, particularly in the Stotts system where the PF is used to stretch the defense, as he is playing the 5 spot. He kind of struggled last year when he was often put out on the perimeter as a spot up 3 point shooter. Also, moving him away from the basket covering 4s negates some of his defensive prowess.

Well there's your problem. They shouldn't be trying to make him into Aminu.

Yup. Stotts would have to make some major adjustments to his offense if he wanted Zach to become the starting PF.

Shouldn't be that hard. Just look at his notes from when he coached LMA.

Agreed. I don't see any reason that the Collins-Nurk pairing can't coexist just as well as the LMA-Rolo pairing. As long as they don't sing together on any commercials, that is.

I think that Zach has to get a lot more comfortable with his perimeter shooting before that's an option. So far, he's nowhere near consistent in a contested shooting situation once he gets away from the basket.

It's just lazy coaching by Stotts. I get putting Aminu in the corner because frankly I don't think his BBIQ is very good. He's a decent player, but his decision making is sometimes very questionable. But Zach is sharp. There's no reason to stick him in a corner and tell him to wait for the ball.

In fairness, LA wasn't all that consistent in contested shooting situations either, which was a big part of the problem, since he'd shoot those elbow jumpers whether he was open or not.

Yuck. I like Aminu and Harkless (never mind the pick) better than any of the three we get. Porter is an asshole, and an injured one, Labissiere will be out of the league in a couple of years, and Koufos is okay, but old, and out of step with today's game.

    Actually I like this better:

WAS Gets: A. Aminu, M. Leonard, POR 2nd
SAC Gets: M. Harkless, POR 2nd
POR Gets: O. Porter Jr, S. Labissiere, Jason Smith

Washington saves $13M to duck under the luxury tax (creating a $13M trade exception for the summer), clears room for Oubre to start, and gets a solid Forward back in Aminu.

Sacremento needs SF help. They have too many good bigs (believe it or not). Harkless is still youngish, and they look somewhat competitive and dint have their pick this year. They have the cap room to make this deal.

Portland gets their starting SF whos a good small-ball 4, an Aminu replacement that can play PF or C, and clear the path for Collins to start.

I love it, I don't see the Wizards making a big move like that before seeing their lineup with Dwight Howard though.

I like it but that doesn’t seem enough for a guy like porter, despite his contract. It’d probably have to include our first, but I’d still do it.

Yeah it's not an immediate trade just something I think would make sense at the deadline if things keep progressing the way they are.

Also, we might have a tough time including Harkless in any trades this year because he might not be able to pass a physical.

Yeah I'd do it too, especially since the 2019 draft isn't deep.

There's nothing stopping SAC from offering Labissiere, Kofous, and Randolph for Porter and Smith to get that Sf they need, which would be a better package because WAS doesnt have to take back long term salary and they get Labissiere. Without Sacremento having their 2019 1st, I doubt they'd offer a 1st in general due to the state of their team. So WAS might value two 1sts and a $13M trade exception if we offered it over that.

True. That makes things difficult. Would have to be Meyers, Aminu, Swanigan, and Layman to barely match Porter.
