No, I know these things occur. But I don't participate in them, and as far as I know, they don't happen in my presence, so I can't really comment on why people choose to treat others in disparate manners. I can only comment on what I think, how I behave.

That's just your view, that Liberals love making laws. Liberals have a different view and that is that Liberals love following the Constitution as it was intended. Which is right? That is what politics if for.

Not really. I know right and wrong. So I'd vote for changes in some things and have ideas to fix them. As to my lack of empathy here is an example

I read lots of people here saying how much Paul Allen dying affected them.

I couldn't imagine how someone could be so emotional. I was even planning a thread to make fun of them but I realized I'd just look like the asshole that I am.

I think it applies to almost anyone born in the boundaries of the United States. That's the way I see the Constitution and that's the way the Supreme Court and all other courts see the Amendment. Disagreeing with this is akin to saying there's no such thing as Global Warming.

Has the Supreme Court ever actually weighed in on whether being born in the US necessarily makes a person automatically "subject to the jurisdiction thereof"? I couldn't find a case that covered that.

I don't think you could find 5 judges that would say yes to this. 4 would say no on general #nevertrump principle, and the others seem to believe the originalist or strict constructionalist view, which parsing out a couple of motes would be the antithesis of. :dunno:

But I could see (in another dimension where lawmakers make good laws) this being tied in with a comprehensive immigration reform package.

It's a bit ironic, but Harry Reid and then Senator Obama, were against the very same thing. Not my opinion, it's what they said.

Bottom line, trump cannot sign an executive order to change the constitution.

Most likely it's never been challenged in the Supreme Court because it would fail. It is extremely unlikely that they would overturn a law that has been implemented over a long period of time.

if the congress did make changes I would prefer that for immigrants that have come here legally and their kids were born here they would receive citizenship, or if an immigrant became a citizen then their kids would also become one.
    Either way for me works.

Well, he can sign whatever he wants. It will be blocked by an appeals court in a millisecond, but he can do what he wants. Don't you remember:
Just as one example, Obama enacted 2nd Amendment-challenged actions by Executive Order both in 2013 (right after Sandy Hook) and in 2016. Trump removed one (by pen and phone) last year. His DAPA and DACA orders were hung up at the 5th Court of Appeals. Doesn't mean he didn't sign them...

Another example of politicians overreaching their bounds, taking too much power over our governance, and their fans saying it's cool 'cuz it's their guy. Biden's Supreme Court quotes, leading to Paulsen not getting nominated. Reid's being used by McConnell to get Kavanaugh in without 60 votes. Etc. There's a system of checks and balances for a reason.

Not sure the slave labor camp would have been my kids outcome if we stayed in China...although there is/was always a little fear that if there was an international incident with the US that we could be subject to violence. When the US had a spy plane crash in China back in 2001 I was told a US teacher at a school I attended was brought out by a mob of students and beaten.

I was just sharing how China works, not that I want my son to be able to claim Chinese citizenship. We do travel between the US and China and makes for interesting times at the Chinese consulate getting the right visas/travel documents for our family.

And that signature would likely have about as much weight as my signature or yours would be. There are proper channels. Trump fails to understand that. If he wants to keep polarizing the country then go for it donnie as it will eventually catch up to you.
