Some of you guys in your off-topic threads/posts are bringing up some of the most ridiculous trade/signings I've ever seen, do you guys even understand the salary cap? I mean a few of you have mentioned Ray Allen going to the Rockets and Mavericks, KG going to the Sonics...etc...I mean, common sense is thrown completely out the window half the time....I suggest looking at player salaries...etc....It's just something thats been bugging me because I have to point it out in every thread.
Re: Something BBW's I think have no clue about. I agree man. Some people here have absolutely no idea about the business side of the NBA. I mean, come on, it's common sense! Even my sister (who doesn't even like basketball) knows that contracts/salaries have to match, about the cap, etc.

Lets trade Louis Williams for Shaq's now im sure that would work! yes I do think some people really overlook that side of the NBA and the dealing of players but im sure most of the time people are just forgetting and not thinking and then usually realizing that they have completly just forgot that there is a nba salary cap.

We should have a mod post an NBA rule of thumb section that is locked but just shows people the rules of salary cap rules, trade exceptions, things like that. Some people just don't understand the overall reality of salaries. I've seen a couple people have like Theo Ratliff for a first round pick or something like that.

The one that bugs me is when people think they can let their own free agents go, and that shores up money for a big free agent. Not knowing they are over the cap and can't offer that money they let go.

I know how the salary cap sh*t goes, and whatever. But listen, rumors on SI.com appeal a lot more to me than they do to you. I like to post them. This is only the first topic about trades I made, other than the free agency one, which was very much reasonable.

Well, thats because so many owners will spend so much money over the cap that its ridiculous...Just look at New York's salary for crying out loud....Obviously, some Owners wont dish out the money to have a stacked team like Chicago in a few years. There is no way that they will be able to sign all of those future stars.

Neither does Odom and Bynum for JO. Of course this could be remedied by throwing in Vladamir Radmanovic, but that would kind of defeat the purpose of the trade for minnesota.

At least run your ideas through the trade checker at ESPN (but even then, 8/10 trade ideas on forums are downright ridiculous, whether it works financially or not). If you really want to see the worst ones, go look at the trade ideas on RealGM. You will piss yourself laughing at them.

Everyone knows the Mavericks and Rockets can't add Ray Allen's salary.
Re: Something BBW's I think have no clue about. I haven't been here much lately so I haven't seen many of the posts you are referring to, but the majority of people who post here are very young. I think most people under 16 or 17 don't understand how salaries, the cap, luxury tax, or anything like that works. It's not something bad, they're just young and not savvy to the business aspect of the NBA.
