You are correct in that you may choose not to be intimidated. However, the statute is not against being intimidated. The statute is prohibiting the attempt to intimidate with a creditable apparent threat.

 

Never brandish. But it does not hurt to always appear to possible be if not probably armed.

Im not ok with anyone from any side using intimidation ant the threat of violence to promote a candidate. But I do acknowledge it is legal.
